My wife and I were visiting family and needed a place to stay. This hotel was beyond awesome! The room was clean and cozy like a studio apartment. Very spacious and had everything we needed and more. "A tiny jewel in Desert Hot Springs"
This totally cute, upbeat boutique hotel has a vibe that is part desert, part historical hot springs and a little South Beach! The location is tops for playing golf or other desert activities. The revamped rooms are full of great touches such as kitchenettes, bathroom night lights ( thank goodness), Philosophy bath products and more. The outdoor patio […] has a nice pool and hot tub perfect for a little R & R and the spa area has a mineral pool, sauna and soon to come expanded spa services. The window air conditioner took over an hour to cool the room and then it would cycle all night waking me almost every time. I wouldn't stay here again even if it were free.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cute, Small and Friendly!"
Had a great exprience, staff was friendly. Quiet, even though we did see children staying here it didn't seem to cause an issue for us. We would love to come back after they finish the sauna. Oh and a plus that there is a 7-11 walking distance.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"What an Experience!"
I only stayed a day and a half (though I paid for two) and the hotel was absolutely sublime! I loved my room with it's adorably, colorful decor! I had a walk in closet that had plenty of room for my many dresses. What I loved even more was that my room had a kitchen and couch. I just lounged for the first hour of my stay. It was so relaxing. Brandy […] is heaven sent. Please give that woman a raise! Thank you so much Vista Ventana. I shall be back! Love, Oriel M. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice clean room. Exterior somewhat dated."
We had a quick one night stay here. The weather was hot so a cool room was a real refuge for us. The decorating and cleanliness of the room were great. We didn't really use the kitchenette, but had we stayed longer, I'm sure we would have. It seemed reasonably well stocked from a quick perusal. The one odd thing was having only access to hot water, […] no cold water. I guess their water access is to hot springs water, so just don't look for a cold drink from the tap or a cold shower. The manager was very nice and helpful! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quiet, peaceful, comfortable"
Vista Ventana is still a work in progress. We stayed here to take advantage of the waters, to relax, and to use the kitchenette to prepare our meals. The refrigerator and stove are missing parts but do function. The dishes, pots, pans, and flatware are brand new. The room is spacious and comfortable, and there are nice touches, such as a big bed with […] four pillows, Philosophy-brand toiletries, thick, new bath towels, and a make-up mirror. There is free WIFI and a free breakfast is offered at the Sidewinder Grill (a nearby restaurant). There is also a sauna, and massage services are available. The best part of our stay was being able to enjoy both the swimming pool and the heated spa as much as we wished. The owner is very conscientious, sincere, and dedicated to making his guests comfortable, and Vista Ventana is sure to be even more wonderful when the renovations are complete. the hotel was older but kept up. things were replaced. Very clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had a pleasant stay and the hotel staff was very helpful. The rooms were exactly the way they are depicted on the internet which is refreshing. The AC took time to overcome the temperature of the room but a good 6 hours and the room temp was nice. We will stay again for sure.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Hotel staffs are really friendly and nice! Room door key is bit difficult to lock, but only 1st try. I like this hotel very much!Genuine Expedia guest review
This is a newly refurbished hotel. It's your typical 1960's cinderblock structure updated with a modern touch. My first impression upon walking on the grounds was that it was really clean. The woman at the desk was very nice. Easy and fast check in. There was refreshments & snacks in the front office upon arrival and a nice assortment of danishes and […] fruit for a light breakfast in the AM. Fresh & tasty coffee and juice. Room was immaculate and the renovation stylish. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. The pool/spa area is very open and clean. They have new and stylish patio furniture there. All in all a very lovely place to stay. We will be back for sure. If I had to come up with a con I would say that the wall air conditioner in the room doesn't cool the room as well as I would like....and the pool patio area needs potted plants & greenery. Which I guess is tricking in that hot desert climate. These things did not take away from the enjoyment of our stay there however. If you're looking for an inexpensive place that is comfortable & stylish, the Vista Ventana is just right. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Pros and cons"
I said I wouldn't recommend the hotel, but it would depend on why you were visiting. I was treating myself to a mother's day alone night. Had my margarita mix and blender all ready , so was disappointed that there was no ice machine. . Had taken my lap top, but by the time I realized there was no wi fi code and no phone to call the office it was too […] late. . I was glad I had checked in early in the day, because when I went back that night, it seemed like I was the only one around. They hotel has an inside courtyard which is nice if you want to swim and is nicely set up. If you wanted to take a family there is lots of room , but the parking is outside the hotel on a visible main street with no security for the parking or the courtyard. My .room backed up to the main street so a lot of traffic noise and large windows faced the street without any security bars in the windows. I might take the kids back for a couple of days of swimming , but would be more comfortable if there were more quests and security. No dircections to the office from outside the building. It was fine for what we needed. Only open one week. Remodel of older place. No shelves in fridge. No phone. No ice machine. It was clean and they gave us two vouchers for breakfast at the Sidewinder. But a 2 star at best.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Vista Ventana stay"
The room was very comfortable but since the rest of the hotel is not close to being updated(pool/spa fenced off) why is the hotel open? Frankly we did not feel really safe. "good hotel to stay at"
When we came to this hotel, hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. later we got a suite room at the price of a standard room. The hotel is still under construction. When competed, it promises to be a good option for an overnight stay in Desert Hot Springs area. The room was clean, the furniture is new. I loved the kitchenette and the shower-tub combination bathroom has clean and shiny with all the new fixtures. The fridge was old and I am not sure the tiny window air conditioner […] will be sufficient in Summer. The management was very friendly and attentive. The whole area, off the freeway, closer to the mountains, and with abundance of natural mineral springs, has a potential, but, for now, still looks like 70s recreation. "A work in progress ???"
The management of the hotel was nice but the hotel is not ready for prime time. From the booking photos everything looked new. However, the Internet was not working yet, pool and spa not available as well. There was no ice machine on the property. If you are looking for these things call ahead they may have these things ready by then. The room was clean […] repainted and partially remolded with new furniture. Upon close inspection there was an old TV, old noisy refrigerator with a dirty interior, old electric stove and an old AC that at 1:30 am decides to make strange motor fan noises. I had to turn it off and live with the refrigerator noise and heat. The bed had new sheets but I wasn’t sure the bed was. It had the usual signs of wear. I had to sleep close to the left of center so not to fall into the valley on the right side. The bathroom had new paint good towels and new fixtures. The local area wasn’t very good. 2 local men tried to steal some equipment from the back of my truck. Lucky for me I caught them running down the street with my stuff….. I got my stuff back. There was no value in the price I paid. Next time stay in Palm Springs and commute. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A surprisingly comfortable room."
We needed a room for one night and this turned out to be surprisingly nice and comfortable. The hotel is in the process of being renovated so the outside is rather outdated but should change soon. The bed was very comfortable and the manager was very nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Booked this room for Coachella"
The hotel itself is an old building and is a good 40 minutes from Coachella. I can't give it an excellent rating because it's an old building and reminds me more of a motel than a hotel. However, it was very clean. The room was perfect for what I needed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Basically, a good place to stay for the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good base for people on the go"
This is one of the earlier hotels in DHS, built in the mid 50's-mid 60's. It had fallen into disrepair in recent years. The new owner has cleaned and spruced it up and is breathing new life into the place. It just reopened and there's still a lot of work to do. I gave the facility a "2" rating because advertised amenities such as WIFI and the hot tub […] weren't available. The manager said the WIFI will be hooked up in a couple of weeks. The pool and hot tub were fenced off and being worked on. The windows are single pane and let a lot of road noise in. The manager told me that there are plans to replace the windows. This will greatly reduce the road noise. My room had great views of Mt. San Gorgonio, Mt. San Jacinto, and the desert valley. When the remodeling is completed, this will be a great little boutique hotel for active people to base operations for their stay in the desert. Calling the hotel a spa is a misnomer as it doesn't really have the facilities that one would expect at a spa hotel in the area. However, the rooms do have kitchenettes (bring your own pots, pans, and utensils). A therapist is available to do in-room massages. I stayed just one night while on a business trip, so I didn't need a lot of amenities. WIFI would have been nice, though. In the near future, the hotel will be a good alternative for people looking for a quiet, place to relax without the hubbub of the larger hotels in the area. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"It's a cozy place"

We liked the place because it is not too busy and crowded. It feels like we had it to ourselves especially the pool and the jacuzzi. We liked the kitchenette, it is furnished with utensils. The room is clean and neat. It is a small place, and it is quiet and peaceful.

My girlfriend and I stayed the weekend here and it was well worth it. Upon arrival we were greeted by a young lady at the check in who was so very friendly and helpful and hag us in our room so fast. After driving for 3 hours that was great. The. The room was bright and spacious and oh so nice. multiple living areas. A wonderful kitchenette with a working fridge and freezer. A full stove and oven (so if you'd like to coo k a meal it's there).A sink with everything for cleaning (Soap, Sponges everything. I like the nice little seating area with a nice large comfortable couch and a large table also.A TV not a flat screen but it worked and the picture was good (needed to watch some Sunday NFL football). Sleeping area was large with a very large bed. The bathroom was large with a shower and full bath tub (my girlfriend loved that). Lots of closet space. And best of all everything was so clean which( I'm picky about). Pool area was awesome. Clean with lots of comfortable seating. The pool was great since it was so, so hot there. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. For myself I came here to get away from Los Angeles for some peace and quiet and that's what I got. Nights were wonderful, very quiet surroundings(LOVED it) But if you want stuff to do it's all close by. from shopping to nightlife and lots of good restaurants .. If you're thinking of staying in the area give this pace a try. My girlfriend and I will definitely be returning to this gem in the desert..
"Cozy & Clean"

Stephen the manager is a gem. He was courteous and helpful. The mineral spas are great. My wife and I enjoyed them immensely. The rooms were clean and had a cool color palette. However, the kitchenette was a little dated. It definitely serves its purpose. The maid staff is fantastic. They go above and beyond to make sure the rooms are spotless. One thing you need to know is that there are no black out curtains; so when the sun comes up.....you know it! The other issue is that since it's an older hotel, the ceilings are a bit thin. So, if there is a heavy foot person above you it can be an issue if you're a light sleeper. The sidewinder restaurant they have partnered with is a local place with good food and service. Don't expect anything fancy. What they lack in style, they make up in food. I enjoyed my stay overall. The indoor spa was great. The pool was pristine and the mineral water spa was a gem. They are a small spot with a few little hiccups, but all in all I would surely go back. Again, Stephen the manager was great.

"Clean, large, very comfortable room"
01/09/2014 TracyTomNY Queens, New York
My boyfriend and I stayed two nights at the Vista Ventana during our trip out west. I was very surprised with how large the room was. It had a kitchenette stocked with utensils, plates, cups, etc. As well as a full size refrigerator. There was a small living area with a couch, large closet and small desk as well. The rooms were freshly painted in bold but tasteful color schemes which I loved. The bed was extremely comfortable. The price of our room included breakfast at the Sidewinder cafe for both days, which unfortunately we could only visit once as we had to leave early to catch our plane back home the second day. The pool and Jacuzzi were available yet we didn't use them as we were actually in the area to stay at another day spa. We will definitely book a room here again when back in desert hot springs for our annual trip out west.
"One Night Stand"

Our stay was GREAT! We found this little desert gem at the last minute. Vista Ventana is a great place to stay in the SPA district of Desert Hot Springs. While they are currently renovating the property, the basic amenities and casual vibe earn it a 5 Star rating. Steve the manager is an awesome host and has great plans for improving the property as well as fun and entertaining event planning. What to expect: This isn't hoity-toity Palm Springs. You come here to rest, relax and take in the "waters". They even take the phones out of the rooms to maintain the peaceful, zen-like atmosphere. Both the spa and the pool water come from the DSH mineral water aquifer. There are massage services on premises with planned accommodations for salt, sugar and mud scrubs as well as a sauna. I look forward to "taking in the waters" at this great venue soon!! Of course I am probably shooting my self in the foot, In 6-9 months this place will blossom into a $300/night Boutique Hotel for the LA/Jet set that needs to decompress after a rough week of deal making...get it while you can!!

Clean, chic rooms! Great rates since pools are not open yet! Gave us passes to DHS Spa for day use of their pools for the day, at no cost to us! Comp breakfast for each day of our stay, at restaurant in Palm Springs; which was great since breakfast is served till 3pm...we had fresh fruit , muffins, and pasteries at the resort, and saved our comped meal for lunch while we shopped in Palm Springs! Friendly staff! Thank you Steve who made check-in smooth, helped us find our places of interest, and made sure our stay was all we planned for it to be! Very personalized service! And thank you to Brandy who gave courteous service and a great checkout experience! See you again...SOON!
