Ancient city walls and Ming-Qing dynasty gates watch over tree-lined streets where locals practice tai chi at dawn. Wander through narrow cobblestone alleys, discover hidden courtyards, and snap photos of traditional architecture with distinctive upturned eaves. Family-run shops serve authentic Guilin rice noodles at budget-friendly prices in this walkable area. Simple guesthouses and converted courtyard homes offer intimate stays with genuine local hospitality. Most attractions are within easy walking distance, though public buses run every 20-30 minutes if you need them.

Dining options range from riverside restaurants serving famous Guilin rice noodles to street food stalls in buzzing night markets.
