6/10 Good

Sad State of Affairs
First of all, on a positive note, the bed was excellent, both in size and firmness, so that my husband and I got a good night's sleep. So far as we could tell, the room had been cleaned, so did not feel unkempt. But the entire motel was badly in need of repair and reconditioning. The elevator functioned, but its appearance was shabby and its control panel was badly damaged. The outer door to our room did not fit its frame, so there was a gap of approximately helf an inch between its latch side and the door frame. The TV had no remote, and the one furnished at our request was not designed to work with our set, so for instance, it could not even turn the set off, or navigate channels properly. There was an ironing board but no iron, a small fridge that was not active, an empty space above the fridge for a microwave, but no microwave, the toilet seat was broken, the towel ring was not anchored to the bathroom wall, and there were numerous chips in the plaster and moldings that had accumulated over years and needed attention. In short, the room was run down and in serious need of rehab. There was an inconspicuously placed sign indicating that the premises were in renovation, but it was not clear that this include the rooms. We felt sorry for the staff, as they should not have been put in the position of having to apologize for the condition of the accommodations. Wyndhams should provide better suppport for their units.
