    Nice hotel, great location

Hotel was lovely, nice clean and helpful staff. Service at the bar was table service and a bit slow, shower was literally just a dribble because of the water pressure! There was a note in the room stating this, but it was really bad, you couldn’t deal with it for more than one night. That said hotel was really nice, staff very friendly, beds and pillows really comfortable, and a great location

Chucked out at the crack of dawn

I’ve been coming to the Strand Palace for over 20 years. The staff are friendly and helpful, the decor is better than in the past. I don’t live in the UK anymore and I arrived Saturday evening off a plane for a two night stay in advance of a meeting late Monday morning. I was told at check in I’d have to vacate by 8.30 am on Monday. Very little explanation until I asked for some - just that there was emergency water works to be done and the whole hotel was losing. In the circumstances I think I should have been informed earlier than check in. It was too late for me to cancel my Sunday night and be refunded. Nothing was offered apart from a room upgrade. I spent the night in a room with the coldest unheated bathroom I can remember since a childhood in the north of Scotland, wondering how I’d spend the time on Monday morning form 8.30 until my 11.30 meeting in central London with a large suitcase in the middle of January. On Sunday I asked about the possibility of being moved to a sister hotel for the night but was told I didn’t qualify. So I moved out and spent money on an alternative hotel for the night. Sorry. Obviously emergencies happen but the experience was the opposite of how it could have been. I feel that something could have been done to at least warn me in advance. That on top of the freezing bathroom mean, I’m afraid, I won’t be back.

    Wonderful stay

Got upgraded which was a nice surprise. The room was lovely and the bathroom was great, the view from the window wasn’t as nice but it was only one night so it was fine. It was lovely and quiet. I would happily go back

Great location but not a great nights sleep.

Second visit to The Stand Palace and will be my last! Visited first in December and had a Strand facing room 6 floor, this time an internal room 8th floor. On both occasions sleep wasn't an option with the excessive heat and poor to none air conditioning and the constant noise from either the street (like a race track) or the hotel cooling AC units. Staff were excellent, breakfast nice with good choice. Rooms are well decorated, clean and very nice but you just don't get any sleep, so won't be returning.

Great, but small toilet area ..

Lovely hotel, staff, however, the toilet space is very small … Enjoyed our stay immensely, bathroom needs to be advertised, as very small. Thank you 🙏

    Very Disappointing Experience

Initial impressions were certainly good with the amazing looking reception area, helpful staff and the perfect central location, right near to our theatre show. But then it started to fall down. First there was the strange concierge, who tried to engage in rather inappropriate banter as he stored our luggage, but we didn't think too much of it and headed off for lunch. On our return we were given our and key and clear instructions for everything and off to our room we went. After making it down a seemingly endless stream of corridors we got to the room and opened the door with baited breath, what we saw quickly left us feeling deflated. We had a small odd shaped room with a tiny window that looked out over a central courtyard of some sort, not exactly picturesque. The bed was great, but what wasn't great was that it was pushed up against a wall, so you could only get in on one side! This was incredibly inconvenient and also meant no bedside table either. Then we saw the nice big TV, which was totally out of line with the bed, meaning you couldn't actually watch it properly from there! There was also no complimentary bottles of water, as the booking promised, and a very sad looking and very meagre tea tray. Then there was the bathroom issue, which nobody had informed us about. The bathroom itself was lovely and we really looked forward to a nice shower, only that was impossible because there was low water pressure. Very poor room indeed.
