On the whole brilliant
On the whole a brilliant hotel in a great location. Their service staff are fantastic and can't do enough for you. Sri and Jana in the restaurant and bar were wonderful, so so friendly and really helpful. However the reception staff, not so great. It felt as if we were an inconvenience and any questions were not welcomed at all. Amsterdam as weather much like the UK so umbrellas are a must have, the hotel has opted for a self service machine where you can hire umbrella's for 48hrs. I understand these get left and this is a way of ensuring people take care & return them, but the machine is very very flawed. The three couples in front of us all got "charged" multiple times even though no umbrellas were dispensed. A member of staff eventually came over and said 1) it was being done incorrectly, 2) it was our card (amex says it's taken but not) 3) laughed and said we were just making a fuss and no money would be taken. It was a good experience, Tanya. Cant we just be trusted with an umbrella, or charge a deposit to our room BUT done by a person not a faulty machine. As I say ever experience with reception staff was not a happy one. Maybe their kitchen staff should provide some training on how to like people.
