Great Granville Island Getaway
This trip we planned to spend a few days checking out quirky Granville Island. The Granville Island Hotel was recommended by several friends. They were right. Apart from being the ideal location for the purpose of our visit, our experience at the hotel, the facility and the staff, was top notch. The water view from our room added to our enjoyment.Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

Bed was very comfortable with no down or feathers as requested beforehand. Was easy to adjust temperatures for comfort. Restaurant was very accommodating for vegetarian guests.

Treasure Island
Doesn't look anything special from the outside but the Granville Island Hotel ticks all the boxes when it comes to comfort, location and (if you have a balcony room overlooking the creek), beautiful waterside view - a fine thing to wake up, draw the curtains and see the boats bobbing up and down outside your room. King size bed was indeed huge and very comfortable, tea and coffee machine worked fine, as did the shower, cable TV had a decent selection of channels but we didn't really take advantage of that. Supposed to have an iPod link to the alarm clock but not on the model we had. Minibar was adequate for storing our own beers and wines, the presence of an ice machine down the corridor was much appreciated by Mrs C, while even further down the same corridor was a decent hot tub and sauna (yeah, like I'm going to review the exercise bikes and row machine...) Being based on the Island means you get first dibs on the quirky craft shops and the awesome Food Market, which is a true treat for the senses. Don't miss the Granville Island Brewery which is excellent for beers and snacks, very good value both in the bar area and the shop (although annoyingly, like many places on the Island, it does close early, usually 8pm. A Tuesday evening comedy show persuaded them to stay open to the dizzy hour of 10pm, mind...). Can also recommend the organic bakery and the Vancouver Fish Company, good for food and a late nightcap. Aquaferry and No 50 bus make getting around a piece of cake.
