    Terrible Service

I had to wait for one hour in the restaurant to be served and then the wrong drink was delivered and incorrect food but by this time I was starving the food was very good. Checking was very slow also.

    Disappointing

Staff in bar and in dining room very friendly but lacked training in their individual roles. Dinner very good. The breakfast buffet was fresh and appealing but you had to take your cup yourself up some steps to the urns for tea/coffee.....water not even hot. As for the toasters - again up steps into another room altogether, in filthy condition and utterly inadequate. Hot breakfast was brought to the table. Reception area dreary with no atmosphere. Room cleaning cursory eg On returning to our room, we found our used towels from the morning still there (no problem with that) but fresh ones also. The duvet had been pulled up over wrinkled sheets. Glasses where we had left them. The buildings and grounds must have at one time been beautiful, but now they appear neglected and sad. We could not recommend this hotel.

    Please change the Management

Even though we had prepaid through Hotels.com, we were asked to pay again and at a higher rate; we asked for them to check the reservation but insisted that we pay. We have been trying to get a response for nearly 3 weeks, without and contact or resolution. They don't seem to have any regard for guests staying there, as wedding music was blaring out until 1.00am. Why should the other staff, who are really good, suffer because of an incompetency of management.

    Perfect Location

We had a lovely stay at Kilhey Court. The bedroom was spacious, even with an additional bed, for our son. Nothing, was too much trouble for the staff. They went above and beyond, to make sure that we had everything we needed. The breakfast, was excellent and my wife, as a GF dinner, was well catered for. We all made use of the swimming pool and jacuzzi. The location, was perfect, remote enough to not get traffic noise, but just over a mile from the lovely little town of Standish (which for a small town), has a good selection of shops. We will definitely return!

    Very Poor !

This is a run down hotel in need of major refurbishment. Not the standard of MacDonald hotels so don’t be fooled thinking it will be to the normal standard No air con (I should have checked before staying) Nobody at breakfast at 7am No spoons at continental self service section. Breakfast set up being done by young staff with no leader with older staff hanging about in recption. Not a good hotel at all................

    Shocking service and unhygienic

The evening I arrived staff at reception were indifferent and rude. I had paid for a superior room but this was downgraded after I had advised them I was bringing my dog. There was no refund for the difference in room. The accommodation was very shoddy, paintwork on the furniture was chipped and the bathroom fittings and tiles were old and had seen better days. When I opened the window it was filthy and clearly had not been cleaned for some time. I have stayed in many hotels over the last forty years and have never left a bad review. Dinner was shocking with limp leaves in the salad. My dog refused to eat the chicken served as part of it. The visit was topped off with breakfast being unpalatable- even the bananas were green! The hotel was very noisy. My husband requested a call from the manager, which never came. We will not book with the MacDonald chain again. Disgraceful at every level.

Good overall but details need attention

Overall, it was an enjoyable family experience, but there were niggling little problems. We had two additional beds for the children - but everything else was set up for a couple only - two mugs, two glasses in the bathroom, two biscuits in the in-room tea-coffee provision, two bath towels, two hand-towels and so on. During the two nights we were there, our room key was deprogrammed twice, leaving us stranded outside the room (once with a sleeping child on my shoulder and once in our wet swimming kit). One morning, there were breadcrumbs on our newly prepared table from the previous night's dinner (I presume). The in-room tea-coffee provision was quite limited - and wasn't refreshed after the first night, so we had no biscuits or fruit tea on night two.
