Very good
Shower didn't get hot. Room would only cool to 65. Unfinished patches on the bathroom ceiling. Friendly and helpful staff. Spacious Room.

Poor
Can’t control the temperature in rooms
I was very disappointed with my 3 night stay. The hotel is very run down and the rooms are very dark without much natural light. But the worst is that you can not control the temperature in your room nor can you open the windows. It led to very poor sleep as the room was consistently too hot. They offered a fan to help and moved me to another room but that room was just as hot as the first. I waited at the front desk for over 20 minutes at checkout but no one ever appeared. I would definitely not recommend this place.

So so
The staff was very nice but not knowledgable. They told us breakfast was part of the stay but it wasn't, which we learned when we got the bill. Hotel was not clean- stains on the curtains and the ceilings. Located in a good location. I would look for other hotels if I went back to Milwaukee.

Good
Not what you see in photos
Chose to stay because I tend to stay in historic places due to my passion for preservation. This hotel is in horrible shape with water damaged ceilings, dirty carpet and showers and doesn’t seem to have been cleaned up since the 80s. The staff is wonderful and kind but the hotel looks nothing like the photos. Would not recommend to stay here until after it has been remodeled. When I asked how to switch the thermostat from air to heat because I was cold, the brought me a space heater. Kind to bring the heater but shocked you can’t have heat on in a room if ac on everywhere else. I also got blankets .

Poor
Bed like a rock, shower like a firehose, no lights
Hotel Metro is not a cool historic art deco hotel. It is sad, run down, and uncomfortable. I spent one of the most unrestful nights of my life on their rock-hard beds, coughing throughout (I’m attributing this to their air vents), and got to follow that up with a shower that felt like I was being sprayed with a fire hose. The water came out so hard and fast that it was literally painful. The shower nozzle does adjust, but only to worse settings. Lighting is dismal, and half the bulbs were burnt out. When I requested that one be replaced, they said they couldn’t until the next day. Even the paint color on the wall is bad and contributes to the awful lighting and cruddy feeling – it’s flesh-colored, with teal trim. The conference table in my room looked like it came out of the Office Depot fire sale, it could not have been cheaper or uglier. On the plus side, rooms are spacious, ceilings are high, and you have a well-stocked mini fridge. The location is great for downtown activities. When I let the lady at the front desk know about the awful bed and shower, she just stared back at me. Didn't try to get a manager or anything. I checked out a day early and went elsewhere. When I returned home I discovered they charged me for a minibar Scotch that I hadn’t touched. Thanks Hotel Metro.
