The hotel is ideally situated opposite Waverley train station. The room was clean, comfortable and well decorated. There are lots of stairs and the lift was broken. The receptionist did carry our bag up. Breakfast was not included, and we were asked to pay on arrival at the restaurant. It was a buffet and was ok. When the lift was broken there was no signage, but we were told by the receptionist. On leaving the hotel later that evening people came down in the lift, but were blocked by a chair from exiting when the door opened. A member of staff told them it was broken and they shouldn’t have got in. There was no signage.

Great location next to the Waverley station, a tram stop and still a short walk to most attractions in Edinburgh. Many nearby restaurants and shops. Somewhat old facilities with their own charm, but adequate if you just want a place to sleep. For a meat-lover the breakfast buffet is great.

Location of the hotel is excellent. Old town, shops and restaurants are on the door step. We did not have a WiFi in our room for our 3days stay and the staff was not attentive and helpful. Overall we were happy and would stay there again.

10/10 Exceptional

The hotel exceeded our expectations. The location was fantastic. Walkable to the royal Mile and the Edinburgh castle. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance and the airport bus literally dropped us off one block from the hotel. We will definitely stay here again. The rooms are very small but they were clean and the water was hot. Excellent location if you’re looking for a central spot and you need a good place to sleep.

Great location within short walk to Waverly Station…also close to Old Town and the Royal Mile…but the walk is up very steep streets and not for anyone not in good waking shape…the hotel itself was comfortable but being right on the busy Princes street had noise and light spilling into our room 24/7…the hotel itself is old and has that nostalgic feel…but it is not a 4 seasons if you expect 5 star accommodations…but the price/night reflects these mild concerns…the bathrooms were modern and very clean…beds were very comfortable and linens were new and clean…i tend to travel on a budget so this was a perfect spot for me…for those that have never been Edinburgh is literally one big hill and it seems no matter which dorection you go you are traversing pretty steep streets so just be warned…but the city is a unique experience as it feel like going back in time…highly recommend Old Waverly Hotel and Edinburgh as a whole
