Not impressed with staff, hotel was great though
The hotel itself was very clean, very comfortable, and great location. We had a hard time checking in, they had to run our card multiple times which in turn put a hold on our card and even after a phone call that our room was ready, when we went back to check in she said they misplaced our reservation and we waited a long time. The day after we got there I received a phone call while out with family and was informed our room was still occupied and that check out was at 12pm, I told them we had a 2 night reservation and were not checking out. After a few minutes, she was able to see it was a mistake on their end but super embarrassing for me, especially in front of family. They did comp a night of valet and our breakfast but it really did not feel like enough. Especially the nightmare we had checking in and then the phone call asking why our stuff was still in our room. The supervisor was nice but I feel like a night should of been comped. It made our first day in Philly not so enjoyable after having to call our card company and sit on hold in the middle of our vacation to take the hold off our credit card and then the call about our room, it just felt so unorganized. Not a good experience but the hotel itself was great and the valet staff was so nice and friendly, it made up for the incompetency at the front desk.

6/10 Good

Ehh just a bit above average now
Sad to say the Sofitel Philly has gone down hill. It used to be my husband and I’d favorite staycation splurge. Many areas, including the gym specifically, are in need of a facelift and new equipment. We had a 1br suite and on arrival asked if linens for sofa bed could be brought up. 4hrs later had to call again as nothing was brought. The next morning (Thanksgiving) I could hear housekeeping walking down the hall banging on doors at 8:21am and yelling “you need anything?) and when she arrived at our just walked in for some reason. This of course woke my children up (just great). Since when does housekeeping come at 8am? Then later, after watching the parade, my husband asked if there was a microwave anywhere so we could heat up our coffee and breakfast. He was told they would bring it to the room, umm ok?? But alas, again after 45 min he had to call again and wait another 20min for it to be brought. Mind you the hotel was very empty on these two nights. Also $59 for Parking is outrageous!!! Of course great location, but there are better options now.

The Most Elegant 4 Star Bargain in Town!
Because Thanksgiving Day plans were canceled because of an illness, we arrived way before check in time. The hotel attendant accommodating way beyond the call of duty and let us check in! The room was clean, spacious & reasonably priced. Room service dinner was 4 star, gourmet outstanding as well as the breakfast. All staff were friendly & accommodating. Sofitel Philadelphia at Rittenhouse Square has to be the most elegant 4 Star Hotel in town!

Lovely hotel
Lovely hotel with everything done right, except for one thing - the bed. Gorgeous lobby, great hotel room with bathroom, great bar but uncomfortable bed.

8/10 Very good

Fancy doesn’t always mean better.
Hotel was very clean so happy about that. Check in was quick and easy. The room was nice and clean but our shower drain was backed up and housekeeping was supposed to call it in and forgot so that was a bit gross for us. The general crowd seemed older. We tried to get a drink at the bar and since it took them so long (felt slight racism as well) we left to go to another place. The bartender apologized but never then offered if we wanted to wait for a drink understanding we were waiting a while. Gym was decent and had most equipment you would want. All in all it was just ok.

Nice hotel , great location. Not happy with valet
Hotel was lovely. Staff was kind. Only issue was when picking up our car at valet. I thought the rental was rude. I handed him my sleep and he said did you scan it. I said no. He said follow the directions and your car should be up. I was like ok but thought he was rude the way he said it. A group of girls came up behind me and same situation however he said I’ll do it this time but next time following the instructions and scan the barcode? Really? Then when our car arrived we walked over to out our luggage in. The doors were locked. The same man saw us but did not move. Until I walked back up to his stand he said oh are you checking out. Here are your keys. He saw me trying to get in my car. He was younger. Maybe mid 20s and I wish I would have gotten his name Great stay besides that. Everyone in side was very friendly and pleasant. It was a race weekend and we were there to support our daughter He was just very unprofessional
