Where shall I begin. We are visiting Ireland from New Zealand to celebrate my 70th birthday, and my wife and my 50th wedding anniversary, so it was a special occasion us. Check in was fine. We weren’t told at booking stage there was a wedding being held, and facilities would be strained. The wedding party took over all the facilities, even the staircase to our room for photos. We could get a drink from the bar but had to sit out in the rain under a sun umbrella. Which was cold an miserable. The next problem was our room wasn’t serviced, they asked if we had hung the notice saying room free for servicing, which we had, an strangely housekeeping took it off the door an put it back inside. An the only thing they did, bizarrely, was to empty the bin!! They completely left the bathroom, bed and dirty teacups. Finally, there description on Hotels.com says in room they have 42inch satellite tv and DVD player. The tv was not 42inch, there was no DVD player and there was no satellite channels. The excuse that management gave was that they get the basic free to air channels by satellite. And that’s all they offer. Also you can get a DVD player at an extra charge. When I told him that is excuse was absurd, he had no answer. After paying €480 for our three night stay and was given a €60 refund, which I accepted, but felt was inadequate considering how our stay was spoilt, the only way to describe it would be disappointing.
