4/10 Fair

Not Happy with Hyatt
Sounds exciting - Spending Christmas at Denver's large modern Hyatt Regency. The reality turned out to be quite different. First, they closed their restaurant for Dec 24/25. No-one begrudges employees wanting time off, but you have hotel guests and no food available? Really lame. And the few days-old sandwiches and salads in the lobby bar were grossly inadequate. As for parking - $47 per night in their underground lot, but they also charged $39 for a few hours during the day. So a two-night stay cost me $133 in parking charges. Yes, I was a sucker. As for the room (1913) the decor and furniture were drab, dated and well worn, apparently never refreshed in 15 years. The horrible hallway carpeting is always a dead giveaway. To be sure, there are bigger problems in the world, but Hyatt brags on their tv channel about the wonderful experience they offer, and sell you dreams that don't exist. Any good points? The hotel was clean, elevators were fast, and exercise room well-equipped.
