Sandpearl is no longer a Diamond in the rough
Our last stay at the Sandpearl was five or so years ago and we were very much looking forward to our return visit. Our guest experience with the front desk, who we unfortunately had to interact with multiple times, was disappointing to say the least. The room service team was excellent as was Tate’s and the pool area guest services team. Unfortunately the experience with Caretta’s, the Spa, and the Front Desk left us disappointed. The room - well worn - represents how 4.5 star hotels become 3.5/3 star hotels. Furniture was in very poor condition, the mini-fridge was iced over, and the seal on the toilet was leaking, as was the shower. Then the lovely sounding Balcony with Partial Coastal View. Really wish we wouldn’t have opted for this “upgrade”…the view included a perpetually very loud air handler, an aggressively loud boiler (?) discharge, and all the back alley sounds that occur…none of which you think of when booking Partial Coastal View at a luxury resort hotel with a balcony. Our family made the most of it, underwhelming service, maintenance visits, and all…but they never came to evaluate the leaking toilet that was pooling on the bathroom floor… Bottom line, temper your expectations and don’t waste your dollars on the Back Alley Balcony.
