The Western Hotel, Galway, Ireland
Just an OK stay in a convenient location
We stayed for one night while traveling through Galway and it was ok but probably wouldn't have wanted to stay longer. We got to town very early in the morning due to an early flight arrival and checked to see if there night be a room but we're not surprised to have them.tell us to.come back around 11am. When we came back they said they could "upgrade" is to an apartment instead of a standard hotel room, which we agreed to but I think the only "upgraded" part of it was the fact that it had a tiny kitchen space, which we didn't need, because the rest was tiny, not nicely decorated and the entrance through the back parking lot and up a big of stairs was grungy looking. The bedroom was so small it only for one side table and the hot water in the shower didn't work the night we were there. It would cycle through from scalding hot to frigid cold. We had someone come look at it and they adjusted some knobs so we were able to get Luke warm water with very little water pressure. The location was convenient to waking anywhere in the city and it was nice to have parking available and the staff was friendly and virtuous but I wish we had not agreed to the "upgrade" and just stuck with the we had originally booked.

A gem near Eyre Square!
It was a great discovery, just off Eyre Square, hence about 5 mins walk from bus/train station, and the same from the main shopping area, with free parking if required. Has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and also a busy typical Irish pub, with entertainment in the evenings.
