Worn-out but clean hotel in a fantastic location
The Hotel Royal is in a truly royal location, just around the corner from the landmark Wawel castle and a short walk from both the town center and the old Jewish quarter. It is, however, desperately in need of renovation and modernization. That makes it perfect for the budget traveler, since a hotel in this location would ordinarily be either very expensive or very bad. The Royal is clean, pleasant, and "good enough" -- though run-down with very old furniture and fittings.

Pleasant Stay
Rather shocked when we arrived at the hotel as it was surrounded by barricades with a digger working at the back of the hotel. We had not been informed of this refurbishment! It was however a beautiful building and installed de if a little dated was nice. The staff were friendly and the breakfast good, though more fly covers are needed over the food. It is very convenient for most sights around Kraków l.

We stayed in a massive room, which was great - probably the largest hotel room I've ever stayed in. The room was also warm enough. Really impressive bathroom - clean, nicely tiled with a good shower. Our room was regularly cleaned. The hotel itself is in a fabulous position, very close to Krakow Castle. Breakfast was good - lots of choice. Coffee was good too. There is a car park at the hotel as well. Would definitely stay here again, mainly due to the location - kind of in between the impressive main square of Krakow and the equally impressive Jewish quarter. I would highly recommend this hotel.
