Luxury hotel but terrible soundproofing
I found Grand Park City Hall to be just as advertised -- understated luxury in the heart of downtown. There's only one complaint I have: The sound proofing in the room is non-existent.
I could hear clearly anyone walking past in the corridor, not to mention the screams of two children that were staying (I believe) four doors away. At night, I was also woken up by some excited chatter from fellow guests returning to their rooms after a night out. It got so bad that I was wondering if I even closed my room door.
This is a shocking let down given the aesthetics of the room, which showed a superior level of design. I wonder why the hotel couldn't have spent just a little more on sturdier room doors that would no doubt go a long way to reducing the noise pollution that jarringly intruded, shattering all semblence of peace and serenity the room's design tried so hard to evoke.
This is such a sore point, and hopefully the management would take steps to address this glaring but completely rectifiable issue.
