Excellent Stay
Stayed in Room 508 for 3 nights The reception to the hotel is on the 4th floor, accessible via lifts. Check-in was professional, with the reception staff going through an established procedure including having to fill in a form and all the basic information guests need for their stay. The room has the layout of a small flat, with a mini hallway, a separate bathroom and a room equipped with a desk, chair, TV and bed. There’s no amenities like a kettle, tea, coffee etc. The room does have a window, although there’s nothing to see as it only opens out to the atrium. The desk and chair are good enough to work on. The bed had a medium-firm spring mattress, a thick cosy blanket and one of those long pillows the Spanish seem to be so fond of. I slept comfortably every night. The bathroom had a bathtub and shower. Although I only showered, the tub was certainly clean enough to take a bath if I’d wanted. The hotel supplied liquid soap and shampoo via dispensers. Location wise, the hotel is located about 5 minutes walk to Santiago de Compostela train station as well as the Estacion autobuses de santiago. It’s about 15 minutes, mainly an uphill walk towards the main sights of the city. The hotel does offer breakfast, but there are so many cafes around the area, there’s plenty of places to eat. There’s also plenty of supermarkets around the hotel. Overall, Hostal México is a business-like budget hotel that is clean, comfortable and an excellent place to stay for several nights.

Nice place near the train station
Nice room, very clean, super comfy beds. Wish they had ice and or mini fridge in the rooms. Was a bit noisy and we could hear our neighbors voices and tv.

Good transit hotel near train / bus station
The room was clean and comfortable. Other neighborhoods may be preferable to stay if you’re a tourist, yet it’s a great spot if you’re coming from or going to the train / bus station. I had an early trip the next morning, so the location was great, as it was only a few minutes walk from the hotel to the train station. The room was also fairly spacious and it was nice to have a full tub to soak in after walking the Camino. The bathroom could’ve used a little more cleaning (there was something splattered on the wall around the toilet), and the front desk staff did their job yet could’ve been a little more welcoming, but overall the experience was positive and I would recommend this hotel to others.

Good hotel in a good location walking distance from main historical area. Bedroom and beds are OK, small bathroom and TV. Reception is pretty good and friendly, you can buy some coffee there. A high point is having parking for European size cars in the building, which is very convenient.
