Profile: Old Town Edinburgh

Profile: Old Town Edinburgh

Old Town refers to the oldest part of Scotland's capital city. Its ancient topography, known as "crag and tail," dates back to the ice age. Old castles and centuries-old theaters await your perusal. The Royal Mile features most of the shops, bars, cafés, and bars that wend and wind through small alleys.

National Museum of Scotland, St. Giles Cathedral, and the Scottish Parliament are among the most notable and historic ways to discover the history of this charming country. You can walk everywhere in Old Town, following in the footsteps of kings, invading armies, the condemned, and the celebrated.

    Perfect romantic getaway

Can't fault the hotel, we arrived early and were allowed access to the room as it was ready. The room was spacious and clean, the free standing bath was perfect for two and the shower was a dream. Staff at reception were quick to deliver Soya milk for us and were always helpful, the bar area and staff were also faultless. The hotel have thought of everything and we will definitely be returning.

    Weekend stay

Nice hotel and good location. Great shower, comfortable bed. Lovely breakfast. Room smelt damp, probably needs some work on the drainage in the bathroom. Would stay here again if in Edinburgh.

Lovely hotel in keeping with the old town

Second visit to this almost excellent hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful although bar service is sometimes slow as there was not always a staff member there. Lovely comfortable bar and restaurant, atmospheric even when quiet. Basic room was quite spacious and very comfortable.

Exceptional Service - Great Anniversary Stay!

Lovely stay for Anniversary, staff service in all parts of the hotel was exceptional. Received a free room upgrade and lovely dipped strawberries, cake and wine from the hotel. Stayed in the Belle Apoque suite which was top floor with balcony (super quiet). Breakfast was brilliant - would have preferred to have the option of breakfast in the room but this was no real problem. Effort had been made to make the hotel extra clean which made us feel reassured during the pandemic. The bar was a lovely quiet place to relax and enjoyed the outdoor seating area. Got a good nights sleep - would highly recommend having a nice hot bath when you are there as the roll tops are fantastic! The hotel is really handy for a trip to Edinburgh, a short walk to Royal Mile and Prices Street. Highly recommend!

This hotel is excellent! The location is perfect and even though it is right in Old Town, it is remarkably quiet because the windows open to courtyard so you don’t get all the traffic noise. It’s also only 3 floors so has the feel of a charming, boutique hotel, but the rooms were spacious and even had mini fridges. The Bistro is terrific and has a great wine selection. We had to extend our stay twice and the management couldn’t have been more accommodating and caring. 5 plus stars!
