We were in unit 4. First thing you notice when you walk in is a rather stale smell. Chose to believe that was probably just due to the unit closed up and it would be ok with some airing out.
Next thing I noticed however was the state of the sheets - discolored and some rather unsavory stains on them - made me wonder if they had been changed at all from the previous several occupants.
Once you start poking around a bit more it quickly becomes evident that any cleaning which is done is very superficial. Those dark, yellowing stains on the wall around the toilet bowl? Probably exactly what you think they are. The old coffee sachet left in the coffee maker busily growing penicillin...just extra flavor, I'm sure. The microwave which is rusting inside and has loose debris on the floor of it (which I tried not to examine too closely as I had no intention of using it) - I'm sure will add some extra iron (and other things) to anything you put in there.
I couldn't wait to get home and have a shower just to get clean from using their shower. Not going to put a long list out here, just suffice to say it looks like someone just opened the door, waved a brush at the room, then closed the door again and called it good.
Quite how this place got a 3 star rating I'm not sure - it must have been on the location (which I will grant them is nice and convenient) - it certainly wasn't on the level of hygiene.
