Basic accommodation in an old apartment
There is no need to stay here unless you really need to be in the centre of Guayaquil, which is not particularly pleasant. It is rather dirty, noisy and a bustling commercial area. Although the Malecon 2000 is only 6 blocks away, you can also stay close to it in a nicer area. The building is old and the B&B, which is a converted apartment, is also old. The rooms are basic and due to the age of everything, it is difficult to tell if things are clean or not. The bathroom certainly was not, as the shower curtain was mouldy and had bits of stuff stuck to it. There was hair in the sink. Also the AC barely worked and the temperature was only bearable after I'd left it on for a few hours. The bed was comfortable enough and the receptionist was welcoming. I would not stay here again, though, as for $32 there seemed to be plenty of better options.

The reception/breakfast area is nice and clean and open. The room was a good size. The shower was pretty bad, it has no power and flicks between hot and cold but mainly cold. The air conditioning unit is working but a bit of a mess, it occasionally drips water and rattles. With some attention this place would be great but there's a lot of little problems they could easily fix. Even knowing Guayaquil this place was difficult to find, some directions and or better signage would be helpful and a WhatsApp contact number for tourists as I walked around outside for a while unable to find it or contact the reception.

Service was great - very accommodating host. Didn't realize that the room was in a private home so that was a bit surprising. A little farther to airport than expected but an inexpensive hotel ride. Good wifi

Small hostal, 7th floor in a building. Clean, room ok, we had shared bathroom. Actually, its not shared with anyone, its just separated from the room. The staff helpful and informative. Breakfast basic but good.

Simple but totally comfortable
I arrived around Midnight and the taxi took me to City Center. There is a night call button that the taxi driver pushed for me and he waited until someone came down to fetch me. The people are very nice. The room was clean and had a patio that looked out on the city. Accommodations are very simple but totally adequate. I used a shared bathroom, but no one else seemed to use it. They served me homemade breakfast, toast, butter, jam, eggs, coffee and juice. It was very good. They even called a taxi for me to get back to the airport, as I was only there for an overnight stop over. I would go back again!

Nice quiet hostel near waterfront
Overall a pleasant stay here. Our bus arrived 7 hours later than expected and the hostel was fine with our 2am arrival. The room was tidy, air conditioned and it felt like a quiet place. The staff were very helpful with ordering a taxi and the breakfast was fine. Location is good as so close to walk to las Penas and the waterfront and supermarket across the road not that you can use the kitchen to cook food. Great place if you want some quiet time. Only $4 to bus station and $5 to airport in a taxi.

Basic hotel, good value for your dollar.
I was only staying one night. I arrived late in the evening and, in advance, I had arranged through the hotel to have a taxi pick me up at the airport. This is likely the best option if you don't know Guayaquil or the hotel as the hotel is not easy to identify from the outside. It's a bit of an odd set-up -- having the 3rd and 7th floors in, what is otherwise, an office building. The entrance is locked at night. The taxi driver obviously called to let the staff member know that we were on route to the hotel as someone was waiting for me upon my arrival. I was shown to my room on the 3rd floor and also shown the dining area on the 7th floor where there is a fridge with water and other drinks including beer, offered on the 'honour' system. My room had a balcony which overlooked the main street; there was a bit of traffic noise but I did not find it too bad. I had a private bath (there are also rooms with shared bathrooms so you have to make sure you state what you want when you book). There were three beds in the room -- but I was charged only the single rate. A basic breakfast was included -- eggs cooked as you wish, toast, juice and tea or coffee (2nds not a problem). It's not Holiday or Hampton Inn but a good, less costly option.
