Profile: Rome Termini Station

Fronted by a great glass hall and topped by a cantilevered canopy, Rome Termini Station’s modernist vibe blends seamlessly with its classical leanings, and newly arrived visitors will be delighted to discover that they can grab an authentic Italian gelato, espresso, or slice of pizza in the Forum Termini before even leaving the station.

Just across the street from the station and next to the Baths of Diocletian is the National Roman Museum, housed in a 19th-century Neo-Renaissance palace. The museum showcases Roman and Greek artifacts that date back to the 2nd century BC, including statuary, paintings, and the Grottarossa Mummy.

We had a reservation for Gioberti Art Hotel but their A/C broke down, so they put us in their other property across the street (Hotel Gioberti). I stayed at Gioberti Art 4 years ago and loved everything it. I've recommended it to others because it's so well located (if you arrive into roma termini). This time at their other property, my experience wasn't as great. When we arrived the showerhead had an issue and it took them a day to send someone to fix it, even after saying they'd have it fixed while we were out for the day. Once they fixed it, we noticed that the water pressure was terrible anyway. ..almost nonexistent. So, if you are someone who cares about good showers, keep this in mind. The location of the properties, right next to the train station comes with a big downfall: it has become a very bad area. Very sketchy, to the point where we were stressed about being out at night. Also, very loud with many homeless people and sketchy characters who actually stand right by the hotel door. It's unpleasant. This was not the case 4 years ago when I first stayed there, otherwise i would not have gone back. The breakfast buffet (not self serve, due to covid, I suspect) is not bad. They have the basics, and nice outdoor seating area. One thing that was odd is they serve you frozen pancakes. So they give you ice cold pancakes and have no way to heat them up. We asked if they can at least put them through the toaster and they said they aren't allowed to. Room was clean.

We stayed here because it was close to the train station and we were only in Rome for one night. We still managed to walk and see all the big tourist sites in one night. It was nice, clean, and quiet.

Great staff, new hotel, perfect location for train

The hotel location is close to Rome's main train station and therefore perfect for anyone travelling by train and with heavy luggage. I have seen some other comments on the neighborhood but while it certainly is not an upscale quarter we felt safe and have not had any issues at all, plus plenty of restaurants around. There were really only two negatives on this stay: the AC broke on the first day throughout the hotel and was not fixed during our entire five day stay. That was very inconvenient. Also it is a bit of a weird design choice to put a quite transparent improvised white curtain as only cover of the bathroom window towards the neighbors. Having said this, the Hotel itself and the rooms seemed new and in very good and clean condition. Moreover, the staff was amazing: the breakfast team was very friendly and engaged but best of all was Rosa at the reception who was extremely helpful with accommodating our room requests and with any questions and tips on what to do in Rome (and even on the subsequent leg of our trip). We would stay there again on our next Rome trip.

The hotel is lovely and very clean. The location is very convenient for using public transportation. The hotel is surprising quiet given how close it is to Termini. I would have liked more powerful AC in the room but that is the only negative.
