    Derelict style Hotel

The hotel looks nothing like the photos. When we arrived the Hotel looked derelict I wandered around the back and found a door that led through to a shabby reception. It looked like somewhere that they house asylum seekers. The room was equally grotty and very small.

  • 8.0.Very good

    Perfect for our requirements

It was a very old tired building and nothing was open downstairs (I think it was a restaurant once upon a time) but when you go upstairs the accommodation floors were really modern and clean. No food on sure at all but there were teas and coffees and a fridge which was great. We had a shower room which was a good size and all shower gel and towels were provided. We didn’t see the staff at all other than to check in. Plenty if parking but we arrived very late due to traffic and had to park on the high street. Now this is my fault as I didn’t check…I’m disabled and our room was on the second floor with no lift, obviously, as it’s a period building. And parking in the high street was a bit stressful as I had a suitcase etc to lug there. But it’s absolutely perfectly placed for visiting Battle. You’re in the midst of it there. There’s lots of cafes, restaurants and a coop right there too. Most close on Sundays (not the coop) so watch for that. 20 minutes to Hastings and other lovely villages close by. It’s cheaper than a lot of room only accommodation in the area and you’ll see why in terms of it being on the top floor of The Munster’s house but really having that fridge was great (a little bit hummy at night but better than not having one!) For where it is for us it was well worth it. I’d book it again. If you want something more hotel like then you’ll find it and pay for it but chances are you’ll have a drive in

    Do not waste your time

Nice interior, lumpy mattress, squeaky bed, the main plug sockets not secure in the wall, parking was limited to about 5 cars max, duvet cover and pillow cases had several holes in. Will not be retuning :(

Excellent location in Battle. Simple and basic accomodation. Has a lingering cigarette smell which is the mark down for cleanliness. Free parking with limited capacity so cannot be relied upon.

    Cheap but still not great.

Clean room, sheets and bedding. No hot water so not possible to shower. The hotel has lots of potential but is about 30% of the way through a renovation and if we had know this it would have been more acceptable. No kitchen so no food was available but plenty in the high street. If you just want a bed for the night, this is the place for you.

    Disappointing

The room was surprisingly ok it tatty and cold but overall felt like I'd booked into a doss house.when I saw reception and the general state of the place. Guy on reception did offer to carry my bags up which is a rarity. It is also cheaper than anywhere else in the area so I may be bein harsh but I expected more

The price was low but the property is undergoing complete renovation. The room smelled of paint, carpets were loose, inadequate heating and all the bedding was moist. The shower did not operate properly and all noise from other rooms was disturbing.

    Good, value for money stay

Clean, tidy hotel and great value for money. Ideal for a business stopover, room spacious with everything i needed. Wifi was good too. The guy on reception was very helpful, even telling me about the Kings Head, a very welcoming local pub about 3 minutes walk away. I will stay again when in the area.

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Stains everywhere, paper thin walls. Smell of damp everywhere. It’s a solid no from me
