Would not recommend Quentin Hotel Golden Bear
The Hotel Quentin Golden Bear in Amsterdam is dirty, dingy and depressing. We did not know this hotel but we liked the location and it was listed on hotels.com. To get to the rooms you have to scale very step stairs with dirty black sag carpet, there is no elevator. The stairs are dangerous more so then what you read in the reviews. The odor in the room was so bad I could not stay in the room. One dim ceiling light, very dark. There was no closet to hang close or shelves. My room had a crack in the window with cold air coming in. The sheets were damp. I booked a luxury double room. This was not luxury only disgusting. The photos and description on hotels.com are not accurate. The other room had a surprise in the toilet. We quickly learned there are no employees at the hotel full time. The Wifi did not work, we were told to go next door to a cafe. We told the man at the front we could not stay under these conditions. The man at the front desk was leaving he only showed up to check us in. He had no idea when the manager would show up. We have disputed our charge. Hotels.com HAS NOT been helpful to resolve the problem. I emailed the hotel but they do not respond. Hotels.com has called the hotel many times but no one answers. Hotels.com does nothing. I wrote a letter to the CEO of hotels.com but no respond. I have asked to talk to a supervisor but they won't put you through nor do they call back. We are very upset with hotels.com for not helping to resolve the problem. UNHAPPY

Tiny room as expected, good location.
Room was small as expected, tiny steep stairs as expected. Pillows were very small, half of american standard size. Great location, easy to walk to most things nearby people would want to see in Amsterdam. Staff was nice and knowledgeable.

Bad room, decent location
Seems very “bait and switch” went to the hotel I thought I booked, which was lovely, was told at the counter that my booking was for another location, I went to said location and all of the walls were marked with black marks, tiny room, safe had no key, no volume on tv. It’s Fine if you don’t care about where you’re staying, however if you want a nice room, I’d avoid. Will add easy 10/15 minute walk into centre and a coffee shop next door, would recommend for younger traveller like students, who want their own space over a shared Hostel.

This hotel, i read some bad reviews but it was super clean everyday, lovely power shower, hairdryer kn the room .. for the money and location it was amazing! It could have done with a mini kettle but not a problem to me, thank you for a pleasant stay! :)

Great central location
I stayed at the Quentin Hotel Golden Bear for my first trip to Amsterdam. The room itself, a sort of loft room on 3rd floor. Very charming. Nice and clean with full bathroom in room. Staff was friendly enough, helpful for a first timer. Location of hotel was fantastic, central enough to walk to many tourist places, plenty offers, restaurants, shopping, etc. My only comment was the steps in hotel. very steep...maybe that's a Europe thing, but the steps to the room were basically climbing a ladder. Not very easy with luggage. But all in all. cool place.
