Disappointing-Waste of Money for Diamond Club
We were so excited about this trip. It was a warm vacation during December. We upgraded to Diamond Club which was a complete waste of money! They had a separate check-in for Diamond Club but it took forever to check-in & they did not have the Luxury Suite Swim Out Diamond Club room that was guaranteed per our reservation. They offered us no compensation for the inconvenience. Another supposed benefit of Diamond Club is early check-in and late check-out. Neither of those were available. Next, they advertised a "$600 resort credit per room, per stay." When we asked about this, we were given a lame coupon book and every time we tried to use one, we were told that the excursion or activity (massage) did not qualify for the coupon. The coupons were not worth the paper they were printed on! Another benefit of Diamond Club was a butler for dinner reservations, complimentary bottles of wine or sparkling wine, reservations for excursions, etc. This was a joke! Our butler, Javier, met us at check-in and gave us this whole spill about all he could do for us. He promised us a bottle of vodka and a bottle of wine the first day. Plus, he said he would make dinner reservations for us. We gave him our requests and we NEVER heard from him again and we never got the bottles he promised. On top of everything, the Nexus Tour Company charged our room double for an excursion and we spent hours trying to resolve it. We spoke to several other guests who had the exact same experiences.

This is my second visit and I’d go again anytime. Staff is outstanding!!!! Restaurants rate a 8 1/2 out of 10. Be sure to go to the armadillo restaurant and get the taco salad appetizer. It’s too die for!! Watch buffet food. Sometimes food wasn’t very hot. Always an outstanding variety tho. I’ve now eaten at all restaurants except the Zen.. I’m just not into Japanese food but I’ve heard other vacationers say it’s outstanding and quite a show to watch. The nightly entertainment at the royalton pool was ok. Gotta remember, these folks aren’t professionals and are doing the best they can. We enjoyed watching them after dinners. Spent our days at the hideaway pool. Staff always had several activities planned. For those that didn’t partake, they were entertained watching those that did!! Housekeeping does a nice job. Bartenders kept everyone in drinks. I did not sign up for the Diamond club. We never ran into a situation where we needed the butler that comes with the room. Maximum wait time at any restaurant was 5 minutes. We ate between 5 & 7.. Sat at the beach one day. I’m not a sand on the feet person. Enjoyed being away from the music and hustle of the pool for a day. Plenty of servers to bring drinks to your chair out you can sit at the beach bar. Check in and check out took 20 minutes. Took the Chichen itza /cenote excursion. Signed up with the travel people right at the hotel. Well worth the $150 and the full day away. Our guide was a Mayan historian..

We spent a week here on our honeymoon and it was lovely! The staff and their commitment to excellence really were the cherry on top of this entire trip. Our butlers, Armando and Fernando ensured our trip ran smoothly, our dinner reservations, ensuring we had everything we wanted or needed, including keeping our mini bar stocked with all of our favorites. Our bartenders Jacinto, Juan, and Henrri, and servers like Zuriel had the best recommendations and top quality service and professionalism. Our lovely housekeeper Sheila kept our room clean and stocked, while our butlers kept our minibar stocked and flowing. The breakfast buffets, lunch and dinner buffets! I loved the seafood restaurant and the steakhouse were my favorites. Room service was a daily part of our stay and we were sad to part ways with our Diamond Club bracelets. We loved our honeymoon suite, the jacuzzi and hot tub, the double rain showers, EVERYTHING. It was a home away from home, a paradise. The ultimate sparkle on everything was the service and hospitality provided by every single worker who impacted our trip. We can’t wait to come back! Thank you thank you thank you! The beachside of property is littered with trash, we even found glass walking into the water on beach. Drink cups are left were sat. In the bushes that adorn the property by the Adults only pool, there was a bowl of food in the planter all 6 days we were there. I stayed in Building 1, and there was broken glass that was swept to the side under the lights. Housekeeping had to walk by it every day, and it was never picked up. There was trash in the pools as well. We waited for over an hour and half for our luggage to arrive, then when it did, the bellboy scorned us for not giving the front desk our luggage ticket. (wouldn't have happened if the bellboy who took our luggage would have told us that). If you are a coffee drinker, good luck getting coffee in no less than an hour. If you are a smoker, bring your own ashtray, this massive property owns maybe 10 ashtrays. They will literally cut a bottle in have and give it to you as a tray. To the not so respectful smokers, because there are no ashtrays, there are butts all over the property. Paid more for the Hideaway Diamond Club Presidential Suite, the only thing that was a perk was with diamond club all your food was included. PLEASE NOTE: All inclusive is not unless you have the Diamond Club. In my suite, there was no bath robes, slippers, coffee cups, liquor, was clothes nor floor mats for bathroom. Best part was the room was COLD. Mosquitos WILL carry you away if you're not careful, so bring your spray.

We went for our honeymoon that was planned two month out before our wedding and from the beginning it was bad. We were told our room wasn’t ready, then 20 mins later we was told it was then again it wasn’t! Once we got to the room we were not escorted by anymore it took FOREVER just to check in. Nothing we put down for our honeymoon suite was done. The room looks like there was mold. Butler service was slow and never brought us anything we asked for. Serving for food was very small the ONLY decent thing was the drinks and that was a mid and the bbq lunch they served from 12-4pm by the room. There is no difference really from the Royalton and the Hideaway for Adults only except the pool. For it to be our honest moon we would of been better staying home and going out of town! NEVER AGAIN!

Don’t waste your $ doing the diamond club. Not worth it. Buffet was totally ridiculously nasty. People take the Cabana’s and loungers before 7 am so you can’t get one. Resort too large. All Adult at the end of the resort so you have to walk a long way to eat and listen to kids when you are all adult. Drinks were good that was the only saving grace. Paid for a Ocean view jacuzzi on patio suite and you had to break your neck to see the ocean. Our room was right in front of the pool not ocean view. We travel out of the country at least 3 times a year and for the $ this was the absolute worse trip.Bring your own salt, pepper and Ketchup because by the time you get your one pack and salt n pepper your food is ice cold. They were even out of syrup for the pancakes. Never found the ice machine that they said was on every floor. It was our first and last trip to this place. Very disappointing. Take all the medicines you may need the store at the resort is totally ridiculous on their prices. We bought Benadryl and it was 16.00. No were to walk and shop away from the resort everything was to far away to go. They came to clean my niece’s presidental suite at 9 pm one night of course she ran them out. Don’t bother putting a do not disturb on your door, they come in anyway. Out of wash clothes in the room for 3 days. Didn’t give us Kleenex for 2 days that we were out of. No soap or shampoo refills. There was a bowl of rotten food by one restaurant the whole time we were there.
