Also, the wifi was non-existent.
This was an interesting place to stay. If you are not OK with rustic, this is not the place for you. These are 1920s/1930s bungalows that are really quaint but with bathrooms that leave a lot to be desired. It is also is a lot further to Banff than advertised. The distance stated is to the start of Banff National Park, not the town. Instead of 29km it is 63 km to the townsite of Banff. All in all, the service and staff were great but I would think twice if booking again.

Remote setting with mediocre accommodation
We selected this lodge for a 2 night stay based on the ratings and were very disappointed. Although, we are happy to have a rustic experience, we found the cabin sub-standard for the price. There was no basin in the bathroom, so had to wash hands in the kitchen sink. The shower, although did have hot water and a good pressure was tiny, dark and uncomfortable (my partner kept banging his head on the beam in the ceiling). There was a kitchen of sorts, but no utensils. The electrics were dodgy and we thought unsafe. It smelt musty even though it was dry and sunny outside. The lodge is situated approx 45 minutes drive from Radium Hot Springs one way and Castle Junction the other way. So, if you do not have provisions with you, you will have to eat dinner at the lodge. We thought it was reasonably priced until we saw the size of the plates. The portions for the meals were very small and the standard was mediocre. The breakfast was self-service and okay. The couple who own the lodge seem very nice, however, there was no front of house liaison with their guests. In comparison, we have stayed at places where the owners have been very visible and made very good recommendations of the local area.

Loved It!
Staff was friendly and helpful upon arrival, recommended good hiking and sight seeing in the area. The cabins are 1930's with some upgrades but still very rustic which we appreciated. Dinner was fantastic and the breakfast

Great location. Located inside Kootenay National Park with easy access to numerous trails. Unfortunately many trails were closed due to fire damages but we still had a wonderful time by driving around. Room is clean with good size. Hotel restaurant was decent. Nice place.

Lots of potential however the place needs lots of work. Loseness to highway was also not optimal and car and truck sounds kinda spoil it. Food was good ... property xould do with some fixing of bbq benches etc. Nice bedding and warm comfortable sleep. Bathroom was also not fun to use, it was too cramped and small. Keeping in mind it was built in 1923, it was cool to stay there in ways.
