Disappointing stay
Originally booked for 6 people - 3 beds. 2 did not make the trip so told front desk we are only 4. Understood we still had to pay for the 6 person room and was recommended we pay so as to save the room while we went out sightseeing - got there in the AM so they held luggage. Got back late in the day and finally got to see our room and it was apparently switched to a 4 person room - 2 beds in 2 "bedrooms" (no doors) with slat walls for separation. More importantly, NO BATHROOM in room. Private bath was down the hall with room key access. Asked front desk if they could switch rooms - no rooms available. Asked if we could get a refund - no manager available to authorize but would check in the AM. 2 left to check in Holiday Inn Express down the road. 2 stayed to try to get refund in AM. Next AM no response from management and we had tix to Anne Frank house so had to leave but they said since we are only 2 now, they could provide room with an in room bathroom. Came back later in the day and still no word from management on refund (had to talk to owner?) and stayed 2nd night. Next AM still no word on refund so we decided to leave. Final notes-we paid for 3 nights at the 6 person rate while only 2 stayed for 2 nights; review is couple months after stay, tried in vain to get hotel to issue a refund, but they continue to reject without justification. Had to get credit card involved to at least get one night stay refunded. Overall not a pleasant experience. Lastly, note no TV no A/C.

This hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff were professional and helpful. It was situated about 2 minutes walk from the station which connected it to the city centre. Would definitely recommend to anyone else visiting Amsterdam.

Hip Budget Friendly Spot
We enjoyed our stay. The rooms are nice and front desk staff was very friendly. A few things we thought could be improved: bed should have fitted sheets, not just a flat sheet. If flat sheets are used, perhaps use a Queen or King size sheet for a twin bed so it can be tucked under. Otherwise it comes off during the night. Housekeepers should not come in unannounced. We had housekeepers try to come into our room twice when we were in the room. There should be a sign that can be hung on the door when you don’t want housekeeping. Also the housekeepers took our towels and soap. The towels weren’t even replaced with new ones so we had to ask for them. It wasn’t very eco friendly.
