The dust is unavoidable in Vang Vieng, but other than that, private double was clean, bathroom was fine, though the shower head couldn't be holstered in an appropriate angle. Some noise at night from the nearby bars, but quieted down after 11 or so. Breakfast was a choice from eggs / pancakes, along with cucumber / tomato and watermelon, coffee and tea. Pool was a nice plus, though after noon or so it is in shadow. Staff was okay, not great attitude, but helpful nonetheless.

Terrible service
We arrived in the morning and couldn't check in right away, so we sat around observing. This hostels front desk is understaffed, which makes them forgetful and scatter brained. They checked us in 3 hours later, while not very apologetic and confused about our stay. The room was noisy at night and dorms downstairs made the whole place a bit nuts.

Great Hostel at a Great Price
I had a private room and it was good sized with it's own bathroom. The first room I was in was excellent. My only real complaint was you could feel every spring in the mattress. The staff was excellent and was continuously cleaning. Breakfast was really great and included. The second room (I decided to stay another night) had bathroom issues . Both the toilet and sink leaked all over the place. There was a maintenance man working on several rooms on the day I was leaving and I told him about the issues so hopefully they have been fixed. For a party hostel is was really quiet after 10p except for the occasional loud mouth. Even then kept to a minimum. I would highly recommend ChilLao hostel.

Really cool communal area on the roof top with a nice breakfast. Room was clean but the AC and wifi were poor. Good stay on a budget.

best hostel in vang vieng
we loved our stay in the hostel my girlfriend and i got the private room and although not the cleanest room we were okay with it and deff better than most hostels in southeast asia. what really made this hostel stand out from the rest was it party scene at night. the free whiskey every night with the pool table and blasting music made this place extremely fun. younger crowd of backpackers stay here so i wouldn't stay if your not okay with loud music and partying.

Private room not so great
We stayed in a private room, first of all we had to stay in a family room for one night then move the next day as our room was not ready for some reason. Like most places take shoes off at the door but feet were black by the time we got up the stairs and to our room. Room was basic and not that great. Party atmosphere downstairs in the reception. Free whisky from certain times. Our friend stayed in one of the dorms and that looked fine but privates were not so great.

It is what it is
This is a 2 star place, you get what you pay for. Stayed in a private double room. AC worked, had a private bathroom with everything working. The place is not very clean and the bed was down to the springs, but it's to be expected reading the other reviews and the price you pay. Great little place to meet people and have some privacy. Don't expect much so it fit my standards just fine. Staff was very friendly.
