The booking was expensive, even for NYC but I was willing to pay because of the "Great View" rooms. I had booked a month ago and requested a room looking north and requested an early registration. Got there at 1:00 and was told there was no rooms available at that time but was told they would text me since we went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Never got the text but they they did confirm we had a room. we got to the room and was amazed at how small the room was. The bed was up against the window on a platform facing East, not North and certainly not worth the additional cost. All night long, even on the 16th floor, the relentless sound of car horns, kept waking us up. There was no microwave in the room or in the"Essentials' room. Saying that, the staff was accommodating. Wound not go there again.

Public is my favorite hotel in New York!
ALWAYS a pleasure to stay at the public! The staff is always so, so nice and helpful, it seems like they genuinely love to work there. The double room is so nice and cozy and the beds are so so comfy. It’s genuinely so hard to get out of bed! A cool place to hang out and I cannot wait to come back and stay for longer!

NYC visit
Visited our daughter who lives in in the East Village. The hotel was amazing. Lobby, food, shop, rooftop, and the design of the room was fabulously modern and comfortable. There was no design detail left out. Loved the skyline at night with our cocktails on the roof...simply amazing. And the warm cookies and they even had "oat" milk for me!! The only thing I would change is having a front desk as you enter the hotel for direction on where the self check in is etc. We had no idea we had to go up another level to check in..and we requested late check out a few days prior to visit and there was no one to discuss this with so I had to actually call the hotel main number...over all a great visit and we would visit this hotel again.
