    Brilliant value for money stay

The generator is always a fun place to stay. This amsterdam one is no exception. It’s in a good location, close to tram stops and is situated on the border of a beautiful park. It has friendly staff, a good vibe, good food and is reasonably priced. Rooms are basic but clean. Would definitely recommend.

The facilities charge you for every single thing. I feel like they're trying to pay their enormous rent by over-charging for everything. The rooms are small. And the bunkbeds do not feel safe - you have to be very careful because I seriously cut up my leg on the ladder.

Friendly and clean accommodation. Close to public transport. Am used to accommodation where payment is for entire service. Here, only the bed shower and toilet provided in price. Towels extra - as this was not detailed in listing they did provide for free when I explained my expectation. Breakfast great 1st day, awful the 2nd day - so chef skills very variable.

Really great hostel, very clean and organized. I love how they had a restaurant/bar within the hostel to grab food whenever you’re hungry. Check-in and check-out was seamless and overall a good experience.

I like the size of the park surrounding the property! And also I enjoyed seen these family who were bringing their children to the park for amusing time. Many flock of birds were getting their drinks at the fountain all these precious moments make my stayed at the Governor very enchanting!

Nice area with a quirky property. Clean and basic but decent for a few nights sleep. Food wasn’t bad when you could get it. The issue with this property is there are events on and during these times they either close parts of the property without warning or, the issue that happened with us, they close the kitchen to prioritise the event so there is no food. Their website says time and time again that you cannot bring your own food but don’t worry you will never go hungry as they have a cafe and restaurant. Well, when you close these to prioritise non residents over and above residents then this isn’t true. It means late at night when you want to feed your kids, you can’t unless you go out. I spoke to their duty manager who said she didn’t agree with the policy but it wasn’t her decision. I spoke to the cook who said the event was the priority. I emailed head office and they ignored. I tweeted their active twitter account and no response. They have their own communication app and I messaged on there - no response. Disappointing. So, quirky and clean but service is at times poor and they seem to care more about events which provide them additional income than their residents who have already paid.

    Not great

The hotel was not very good. The rooms are small and do not include basic items like towels and soap, the food at the restaurant was not very good and there was a club in the basement that was very loud and made it difficult to sleep. If you are looking for a place to party this might be a good option, however if you are looking for a nice hotel to rest after a long day of travel, I would not choose this hotel.

    Lovely stay. Small room

Great service from the reception staff. They sell all sorts that you might have forgotten to bring. We stayed in the private 4 bed room (1 bunkbed and 2 singles), it was a lot smaller than I expected in comparison to the photos. The rooms doesn't come with the essentials, like shampoo, shower gel and towels. The mattress was more comfortable than expected from first impressions. The cafe serves really nice breakfast. There is plenty of space to relax and chill in the building. There was a club downstairs open the Saturday night, we didn't attend but we heard it whilst coming into the building and slightly from the room on the first floor.
