Luca House is a “boutique” hotel in the ciudad colonial of Santo Domingo. Unfortunately it is also terribly mosquito infested. We notified the front desk and were literally non-chalantly handed a can of RAID to spray inside our room. This was obviously not the first time this issue was raised and other guests at brunch confirmed they had the same issue. We stayed two sleepless uncomfortable nights and left covered in mosquito bites. The ciudad colonial itself has unfortunately deteriorated significantly during COVID and substantial parts are shut down and not comfortable to walk at night. There is not really a reason to stay there overnight. The DR is a wonderful country, but if you have to stay in Santo Domingo, we suggest staying in one of the larger international chain hotel with more professional accommodations.

Curtains need to have blackout, all lights around the room get inside durind the night and mornings because it has hude windowns but curtains are too thin, but other than that great service and great place to stay.

Beautiful property in a perfect location. We like to stay in this area since it's easy to walk to restaurants and sites. The only thing was it had a very nasty smell coming from the ac unit. We thought it was just typical dampness from older buildings/areas, but it was pretty stinky and we had to leave off. Didn't mention to Bob as we didn't want to have to move rooms or anything but the ac unit should probably be checked out.

The Luca stood out for me by its beauty. Lots of hotels are well designed, but the Luca is superlative. There are real modern paintings on the walls, by real artists. Colors and textures and handsome furniture and objects harmonize to create what for me was rare tranquility. All the staff I met were great. Rubber, yes Rubber, was enormously helpful when I first arrived and when I misplaced my keys at departure. Underground parking is three steps from the hotel. There was no food available at any time other than breakfast--I'm not sure why--and this was inconvenient.

We had an amazing time at the Oxo House! Our room was great, the restaurant was wonderful the staff was amazing. The location is wonderful, this hotel was our favorite place we stayed on our vacation to the DR.

A wonderful place!
This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in! The rooms are big, cool, clean and beautifully decorated. For a 3.5 star hotel, Lucas is really luxurious.The atrium and big windows contribute to a sense of calmness, an oasis. Finally, the entire staff; maintenance, housekeeping, reception, waiters and bartenders - all of them do a good job while making you feel at home. This especially goes for the receptionist Carina, who's wonderful vibe and mood can turn anyone's bad day into a good one.

Location is excellent in the heart of the Zona Colonial, walking to Avenida El Conde and other places. Room was excellent, wifi very good, check in was smooth. I think the breakfast situation can be improved. There is a continental breakfast which is basically toast and fruit, not too impressive, I think a nice croissant or muffin or something can easily be offered. And I saw other guests having a hot breakfast, so it seems like there are other options as well, which were not communicated to us. We may have paid for a hot breakfast. I think if this option is available, it should be made clear to all guests.
