Overrated place
I chose the place based of the excellent reviews, so I had high expectations that were not met. First of all, the hostal does not have its own parking space as said in the description: the first night we were asked to park it in a garage at the back of a restaurant they own in a very tight one car space; the day after it took us the best part of 45 minutes and a lot of walking around to get the car because nobody had the key to open the garage door. After that we parked it on the road round the block where there was plenty of free space. Second, the room was the real bad part: peeling paint, musty smell, cracked doors, paper thin walls; I could hear literally anything going on in the rooms around us: snoring in the night, road traffic, any type of conversation or bathroom activity. Only way to sleep was with very good ear plugs. Bathroom sink had a timer tap like in public toilets, so had to push it every 10sec and no possibility to change water temperature. Pressure of water in the shower was good but only 30sec of scorching hot water and then cold water for the rest of the shower. No water during the night. Basic breakfast is available in a nice cafe two blocks away from the hostal... location is very handy to explore San Pedro. I am generally happy to rough it out or to stay in hostel but not to pay hotel prices for it. Bottom line is I would not go back and this is not the hidden gem described in the reviews, it is a very basic that it is not worth the money...

- 8.0Very good
Barros Nativo was located within 5 mins of the main Street and was easy to locate. While staff did not speak English, she tried her best to assist us in our requests and this was appreciated. However, I wanted to highlight an issue which had to do with the lack of availability of hot water for shower and this was a consistent issue. In addition, water supply seems to stop after midnight till 6am and this poses an issue for toilet flushing etc.

Best choice for airport access.
2nd time in a week as we enjoyed it so much 1st time. What was disappointing, as we did not know prior, was that the restaurant was closed. So no dinner and breakfast was not a buffet.

Great location - Friendly, clean and comfortable
Paula and her mother Erica were fantastic hosts, could not have done any more. Rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable. Do not be put off by the small number of reviews, this little hostel is well worth staying at whilst visiting San Pedro de Atacama.

Good value in San Pedro de Atacama
Good value for money! Paula the owner is super friendly and made you feel welcomed as soon as you arrive. Not 5 star standard, but beds are very comfortable and hot shower with good pressure. Had my best sleep during the tour in South America. Good location, a few minutes walk to the town centre. Highly recommended!

Amazing welcome
Warmest welcome we received in Chile! Welcomed with a big hug and a smile from Paola and treated as family throughout. Immaculately clean and basic but comfortable rooms. Loved our stay, the only issue we had was with the complimentary breakfast which was off site and no reflection of the hostal. Despite promised opening hours of 0830hrs, we were often banging on the door for 20 minutes after this trying to get someone to let us in so we could breakfast before a morning tour. The hostal were very helpful though and as an alternative would provide a ‘box breakfast/lunch’ if we had an early start. Would happily stay here again.

Three perfect days in San Pedro de Atacama
I was greeted by name and with a huge hug from Paulo as soon as I walked in the door. She helped sort through the various tours in order to make the best use of my time which was super helpful. I stayed in a private room. The bed/bedding was incredibly comfy. The shower always had hot water and good water pressure. They also have a real hairdryer which I loved. My room was spotless and cleaned daily. Daily breakfast was served at a charming cafe nearby and everything was delicious. WiFi was excellent. I loved it here so much that I stayed an extra night. If I’m ever in SPA again I’ll definitely stay at Barros.
