The host was simply amazing. He was available, was super fun to talk with. You can book a tour to the red lotus lake with him. In my opinion, it's not really necessary to go stay near the lake...going there around 8:30/9ish is fine. The place is also very close to the bus station that would bring you to Vientiane (about 5 minutes walk). And it was very clean, beds super comfortable.
