If you are looking for charming, reasonably-priced accommodations on the beach in Placencia, this is the place for you. I could go on about the comfortable beds, excellent housekeeping, and well-stocked kitchen, but what really stands out about the Village Inn is the personal touch offered by Jacob, the proprietor, and his assistant Tyrone. Both were extremely friendly and attentive to our needs, offering to drive us into town for groceries or to fetch them themselves. We had many conversations with them and got to meet Jacob's two lovely youngest daughters. These personal interactions really made us feel welcome, provided an insider's perspective on Belizean life, and made the trip particularly memorable.
A few notes: First, the property's location is ideal--far enough removed from the hustle and bustle of downtown Placencia, yet the town remains only a short walk along a path/boardwalk. Second, the cottages are not air-conditioned. The nights, however, were generally cool, and the room had fans. Third, with the windows open and the fans off, we could hear cars along the road to Placencia, which could bother very light sleepers.
