The service was faultless. The condition of the place was a little tired but I didn't expect it to be a palace.

8/10 Very good

There was no parking when we arrived in the on-site car park we we had to use the restricted road parking initially but the member of staff who checked us in very kindly moved her car to make space for us. The pub was very noisy late into the night with loud music and singing/shouting. Otherwise the accommodation was nice and the location just outside the city was just what we needed.

Budget, but convenient for city centre.
We stayed in the deluxe room during the Commonwealth Games and I suspect the prices were at a premium due to this. It was definitely a budget type of accomodation, but we were grateful to find somewhere to stay at relatively short notice. The accomodation is a short 20 minute walk from the Bullring. The car park is very small and we were initially unable to find a space and had to pay on a metered road a shortish walk away. Later a pubgoer kindly moved his car to let us in. The shower was kamikazee spouting out hot and cold water at will and the blind was broken so we had to manually open and close it. Facilities were fine - tea and coffee, TV, beds comfortable. Everything was clean. The staff were friendly and efficient and quickly sorted out the broken lock on our room that was an issue on arrival.

I absolutely love this hotel, the history, the building and the customer service, however the rooms are now looking a little old. The curtains were hanging off and walls showed bad paintwork and plastering. The entrance, bar and staff are first class.

You get what you pay for.
Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Room is basic and worn with no added comforts. No ventilation as window was locked and we were told no key would be provided which was bad on a very hot weekend. It’s a pub with plenty of noise and foul language during serving times. Right on the bus route to city centre. Basic, friendly, you get what you pay for.
