Truly amazing experience at The Edison
The Edison was one of the most beautiful hotels in which I have stayed. The building itself is stunning and the rooms are spacious and very tastefully decorated. The continental breakfasts are delicious and I love the addition of the local Nasi Lemak. Every day there is a complimentary wine and cheese hour which is delightful. But it is the service which sets this hotel apart. The staff is polite, friendly, courteous and warm, and it was a pleasure to meet the owner too. A fabulous experience; I can not recommend it more highly.

Immaculate service in a Besutiful building
The Edison is a great renovation of a beautiful old penang house, of which I hope there will be many more. It’s in an inbetweeny area with the Penang road needing a little uplift, but it’s also close to the E & O and the shophouse streets of Georgetown. It was very comfortable. There is no food except a ongoing breakfast buffet and cheese and wine snacks, I’d have liked room service.

Enjoyable stay
This hotel has been beautifully designed to complement the original archetecture with a sleek modern sensibility. It has a lovely atmosphere and vibe. The staff simply could not have been better. The manager took the time to sit with us and map out the locations we asked about, as well as suggesting others based on our interests, and explaining a little Penang history. Staff checked in with us frequently about any needs, while never being intrusive. The hotel offers many little amenities such as bikes, happy hour with wines, and afternoon snacks. We had earlier seen reviews that mentioned breakfast was less than satisfactory, but our experience was completely different -- plenty of good fruit, breads, cheese, yogurt, juice, local delicacies, and eggs cooked to order. The pool is a lap pool, but it is full length, well maintained, and in a serene nook of the property. Fountains in the pool can be heard from inside the rooms, at least on the ground floor, which is very relaxing. I will say that at first glance, our room seemed somewhat dark, but this is actually due to the structure of the old building. Our room also had the "open concept" bathroom, but other rooms have bathroom doors and can be requested. The bed was comfortable, AC was excellent, and everything was sparkling clean. We highly recommend the Edison and would stay there again.

A beautiful stylish refurbished Penang Building
The Edison was an amazingly interesting hotel, I loved the building and the design details. The staff service was absolutely amazing and I was made to feel most welcome. The rooms were decorated in neutral colours and were very comfortable although they lacked the original features in the main hotel (except the shutters). As the bathrooms were next to the windows there seemed to be not much of a view from most rooms. Food and social connection seemed to focus around the breakfast room which had a large range of Chinese grocer snacks and some basics like fruit yoghurt bread coffee and tea. There was one issue which was the location of the Red Court food court right across the street. This plays amplified cheesy music from about 9 to 11 pm which is so loud it feels it is emanating from the hotel! I think rooms at the back might be better off in this respect. Or just go out and come back at 11.30 - it’s a good food court!
