I received an email with self check in details though when we arrived, a lovely lady came and helped us to our room.
We had parked on the street outside to do a quick check in before going to find parking however, they do have parking at the back (after reading other reviews it may be over summer this is used as a beer garden). It was full though one of the staff members moved some furniture out of the way to give us enough room to park - very kind & helpful <3
The location was perfect and just a 10 minute walk to where we had booked for dinner and such a beautiful walk through York at night, I was mesmerised.
The room was nice and tidy, with tea/coffee etc in the room, it was however, freezing. We kindly asked for a plug in heater as the radiator wasn't coming on. When we came back from dinner, they had left one in the room and it was lovely and toasty. Just what we needed after getting caught in the rain. It turned out the radiator then was working too!
We were in room 11, a twin room. The beds weren't so comfy, you could see the springs through the mattresses. The bed frames were rather squeeky, not great when you're tossing and turning to get comfy. The pub closed before we got back (we got back at 10.15pm so they must have shut early), though we could hear all the foot steps from upstairs, thankfully I sleep with ear plugs!
Check out was very reasonable at 10.30am, we had got up early and took a walk to find a cafe for breakfast which was only a short stroll away.
