From check in to check out I had nothing but problems at this hotel. I checked in late on Friday night and they gave me a really horrible room on the second floor that smelled really bad. I called immediately and asked to be switched to a different room, and they did not switch me and said they are sold out. I have to call the next day before 9am. So I called at 8:30am, and they wanted me to checkout of the room and bring my stuff down for them to watch and give me a new room at 2pm when check in starts. I refused since I was already at the hotel and I shouldn’t have to do that. They called me 20 mins later and said your new room is ready. So I went to get my new key and I went to check in the new room one of their employees was taking a break there watching TV and had his legs up on the bed sitting on a chair. I asked who he was, he got nervous and said I am just fixing your tv. I called the front desk and I complained they said that he was there to clean your room. Housekeeping also found out what was going on so they came to my door and apologized and said he was there to bring a robe to the room. So within 3 mins I got 3 different stories. I asked for an upgrade and the manager Ryan was so rude he said it’s my fault bc I have attitude and I yelled at them and they will not switch rooms for me bc of my behavior. I’ve never been treated this way, STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL. ITS JUST BAD. Slow elevators and bad rooms with horrible pillows and mattresses.

Fine hotel for business trip
The room was extremely small and overlooked 40th street and the Port Authority bus terminal. There are many hotels along this street. This was one of the smaller rooms and we were on a lower floor. The room was very small and so was the bathroom. It was clean but there is a $25 daily charge which we didn't figure out until the last day that it got you 2 free drinks in the bar daily. We were just given 1 ticket for 2 drinks. What we weren't told is to stop by each morning for another voucher. That would have come in handy. The bar closes at 10:45. It's a fine hotel for a business trip.

Exceptional 10.0
Great hotel. Great location. Great people. Everything was great, from room to customer service to location. Loved my stay here. I would definitely stay here again. They made it enjoyable for us. Rooms have no microwave, but bar downstairs did microwave our food and took it out of to go boxes and served in plates. Those small things do make difference. This is best bang for the buck. I stored my luggage here for free before check in and after check out. This hotel is operated by Hilton now, so it makes it even better.

don't bother - go next door
The Distrikt Hotel location was fine and great walking distance to the theaters. It is right across the street from the bus terminal and there was a passed out person whom you had to step over to get inside at 10:15 at night; but that is all NYC flavor, and could happen anywhere. The rooms were modern in there design, but the tired and smelled badly. There are only 5 rooms per floor (each very small) so ALL are near the elevator. What adds to problem is that many of the elevator buttons; the "down button" among them, did not work. So you herd people frustrated and trapped in the narrow hallway outside at all hours. The room smelt of odd stale talcum powder, as if it hadn't been vented for weeks; and adding to the smell was a gross humidity that was only exacerbated when the ac turned on. But the worst was the service. A fine point was put on how completely POOR they were when the 2 hotels on either side, desk clerks, valets and bellhops, were proactively helcoming and helpful...even walking down the street to help their guests. Those at the Distrikt couldn't even be bothered to greet their guest from behind the desk. Then, the desk clerk, incapable of checking us in, had to be helped over the phone by the booking agent, and even then presented a foul attitude as if it was everybody else's fault. For the same price I would stay next door at the Doubletree or the Fairfield Inn...both of whom had nicer lobbies and desk people, valets and security.
