    Wonderful service, wonderful location in Gion, tasteful style and design, comfortable, the Japanese breakfast we had a dream. A real find. I recommend this hotel to anyone.

    Every single employee was kind and greeted us when we walked by. They were all EXTREMELY helpful. The breakfast was large and delicious we had both the traditional Japanese and american breakfast. Check in and checkout process was a breeze. We were very sad to leave this hotel and wish we had stayed in kyoto longer than two nights. I would recommend this hotel and stay here if I return to kyoto. The location was perfect, very close to some great sight seeing opportunities and we were able to walk to the train/subway stations quite easily. The bath/spa was closed while we were there due to the corona virus; this did not bother us so much as the rooms were spacious and comfy. We had no issues communicating with staff in English.

    Terrible breakfast, stale rolls, dreadful coffee, pineapple with the skin left on. Not even a normal sized spoon- I was offered a teaspoon to eat yoghurt.

    Walkable and nice hotel

    The hotel is with a great proximity to everything. It was easy to commute from Kyoto Station to the hotel with the free shuttle service. The rooms are bit small especially at the entrance and can get crowdy if you have big luggage bags. The amenities and hot water bath are great complement to the stay. However, the breakfast is mainly Japanese.

    Incredible service

    Fantastic stay. Service was excepcional, breakfast was delicious and everyone is super helpful. They also have what they call public bath in the hotel, which is Ofuro style Japanese bath. Soooo relaxing and great experience. Overall amazing hotel

    The location of the hotel is ideal if you want a quieter area and which is close to the famous Temples near GION. The room is adequately furnished and comfortable making a quiet rest every night a dream. Amenities are limited but the spa is a nice touch especially to soothe the aching muscles after a day out exploring Kyoto. There are two things which dampen our stay : 1. We had booked a kaiseki lunch for our last day at a local restaurant through the hotel and all was good until the check out. For some reason the staff insisted that we leave our luggage behind and return to retrieve them after the lunch. As we had arranged to send our heavy suitcases to Osaka the day before, we only had our hand carry bags. It was ridiculous to ask us to walk back to the hotel after lunch as the restaurant is located on the other side of the river. It was a good 10-12 minutes walk. We didn’t give in and it was quite unpleasant to have to debate over this at check out. We are pretty sure it was a misunderstanding due to the language differences but it did sully our impression of this hotel. 2. The hotel does not practice green initiatives - they still supply toiletries in plastic bottles and there was no option to opt out of the daily sheet changing. Again we think it was a misunderstanding somewhere but it’s good to let the hotel know.
