I chose the “pay at the hotel” option on the website agreeing to “pay in local currency”. However, this hotel charged my debit card without my authorization. I tried to explain the situation using a translation app since they don’t speak English well. Then the receptionist showed me a translation that said , “no way”. A different receptionist tried to fix the situation the next day, but my card had already been charged. Therefore, I had a negative balance in my U.S. bank account and had to borrow money. It was a horrible experience. The customer service was horrendous upon arrival. It’s not foreigner friendly at all. The hotel should not have “the pay at the hotel” option if they are going to charge your debit or credit card regardless.
