    Perfect place in Puako

Ohana Hale was the perfect location for our week-long stay in Puako. We especially loved walking across the street to watch the turtles arrive at the tide pools at sunset, star-gazing in the backyard, and gorgeous sun rises over Mauna Kea every morning. The property is 5-10 minutes from amazing beaches, and a short walk to the petroglyphs. Well-stocked, and very comfortable - we'll be back!

    Perfect vacation rental!

This vacation rental is perfect in every way. The house was clean, nicely furnished and the kitchen was well equipped with lots of appliances and everyday essentials. Beach chairs, beach towels, coolers and snorkel equipment were available for our use and we enjoyed walking a few minutes from the house to a very secluded beach area where the snorkeling was exceptional and turtles were abundant. Walking across the street to watch the sunset (and the turtles coming out of the water to sleep) was amazing. The house is towards the end of a no through street so very quiet and a completely different experience to the busy resorts a few miles away- a great way to avoid the crowds. Close to various beaches by car and a good base from which to explore the island. We were sorry to leave and will definitely try to come back!

Beautiful views and a peaceful vacation

We enjoyed the week at Puako. The beach is just across the road, and our favorite pastime was exploring the tide pools for wildlife. There are beautiful fish, urchins, and of course sea turtles. The home is in a quiet subdivision and the backyard view is breathtaking. The home was comfortable, spacious, and well stocked. We loved the outdoor shower for rinsing after a trip to the beach. We will plan to visit again soon and would choose this lovely home again.

    This is The One!

We have been spending some portion of every winter for the last 30 years in Puako.....Ohana Hale is one of the sweetest properties that offers a whole lot for the rental. The owners and on-site property manager have thought of all your needs and they will have been met before you even arrive! If what you seek is a quiet, restful place at the end of the day, this home will not disappoint. The floor plan allows for maximum privacy, open air flow and majestic views of Mauna Kea. The beach with its turtles and world class snorkeling is a stone’s throw from the front door. And the back yard! An oasis of green with an oversized swing.....definitely brings out the kid in us. Although Puako May feel isolated, it’s a quick drive to Hapuna Beach, groceries and sites if you ever feel like leaving your paradise.

We loved the house and location!

Thank you for the wonderful stay. I was in the house with two other women, in the neighborhood for a yoga retreat. The house was very conveniently located near the retreat center, and across the street from the turtle sanctuary beach access. So wonderful. We enjoyed the swing, having laundry was very nice, and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we could need to cook. We loved the keyless entry pad so we didn't have to worry about losing keys. You really have thought of everything. Our only complaint was that the twin beds were quite hard. Maybe OK for small children, but a little rough on "older" adults. We also appreciate the prompt refund of our damage deposit. Thank you so much for renting this beautiful house. We miss watching sunrise over Mauna Kea!

    Wonderful stay in Puako

My husband and I loved this property. It is very quiet, clean and has great views. We spent a lot of time looking at the volcanoes behind the house. It was great there were no other buildings. We hiked a trail behind the house and saw many interesting plants and even scared up a barn owl. One night I woke up and looked at the stars. Amazing! We backpack in Wyoming and the stars were even better here. I loved having a swing in the back yard and used it every day. We also enjoyed watching the family of pheasants run across the back yard or hang out there. The kitchen is very well stocked. Nice pots and pans. The house is comfortable. It was perfect for the two of us. Lastly, the snorkeling nearby is very good. My most favorite activity was watching the sea turtles come up at night into the tide pools to rest. This happened very close by. We will be back!
