Things to see in Etobicoke
Close to Toronto Pearson Airport lies Woodbine Racetrack, the place Torontonians head to watch thoroughbreds in action. Besides the thrills of the turf, you can also enjoy thrilling rides of your own at the Woodbine Center's Fantasy Fair, the largest indoor amusement park in Ontario. Natural splendor forms much of the attraction of this neighborhood, whether it's Lake Ontario's shoreline or the creeks that cut their way down to it. The Wild Water Kingdom, a water-themed amusement park, takes full advantage, being set among the creek's wild waters. Among the many parks and gardens strung along these creeks, James Gardens is one of the prettiest, with colorful flower beds set among its ponds and rock gardens. It connects to the miles of cycling and pedestrian trails that thread along the Humboldt River. There's history nearby too. Montgomery's Inn is a museum housed in a 180-year-old former inn that's been restored to its 19th-century splendor.
Good for business travelers
For all its natural charms and pleasing attractions, most visitors come to Etobicoke here because of the international airport sitting just to the west. Toronto Pearson Airport is a major connecting airline for destinations across North America, and many visitors find themselves at an Etobicoke hotel as part of a transfer elsewhere. There's good reason to linger though, especially for business travelers. Etobicoke has a good convention center near to the airport, with plenty of potential for corporate entertainment, whether it's a day at the races or on the golf course. And Canada's corporate capital in Toronto's financial district lies less than a half hour's drive to the east.
