Charming is the first sensation I felt when I walked into this hotel, everything is warmly decorated and you feel like you’ve walked into an old home with a lovingly decorated living room home that’s also modern like the bar. Furniture and decorations are more rustic than Scandinavian, complete with a little description of their history.

They are under new management since Feb 2026. They are still trying to get everything right. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is excellent. It has a wonderful view.

Beautiful view from the rooms on the hvalfjörður side, the dinning room and lounge area were outstanding. The staff were very helpful and attentive, we very much appreciated their attention to us as tired travelers on our first night in Iceland. The hotel manager was extremely approachable, friendly, he answered all of our questions, and gave us great information for the next few days of our adventure. The property is under new ownership as of early 2026 and they are making visible improvements. The dinner was excellent and the breakfast was also very good. We asked for our thermos to be filled with boiling water and we had hot water for tea and coffee all day! The bed was very comfortable although they are upstairs in a loft. The hotel is very quiet and we did not hear noise from other guests. Highly recommended, and we would stay here again, especially as a base hotel to hike to the Glymer waterfall on a future trip.

6/10 Good

The hotel has a great potential and the staff is extremely helpful, however the rooms were not clean enough, quite old and were not maintained well enough. The hot water in the shower smelled from sulphur - more noticeable than in other hotels we’ve been in Iceland

Delicious continental breakfast. Everyone was very kind and our room was clean! The view from the hotel was amazing and the lobby was gorgeous. There are plenty of card games, books, and plenty of entertainment in the shared lobby space.

Lovely fjord location

The 1 bed villa was great, worth the extra money compared to the hotel.

The staff were the highlight including the chef but the hotel is in dire need of a facelift, including new hot tubs.

Amazing views of Hvalfjörður from this quirky hotel. Our room had a bed on the mezzanine floor so plenty of space below for luggage. Would have been good to have a second chair in the room but we made do with going to the lounge. Loved the bar & lounge/sitting room area - great for drinks or (free) cups of tea/coffee. Also great view from spa pools. Breakfast included cereal, skyr, fruit, pastries & eggs/bacon. No flat whites but tea & coffee. Easy parking. No lift but staff offered to help with luggage - we were ok just one floor up.

Welcoming Staff

The hotel staff were very welcoming! The meals offered and bar had excellent options, even for me when I have to eat gluten free. Hotel is a little dated but comfortable accommodations and nice size rooms and bathroom.

This property has been closed for a year. They are supposed to re-open in end 2025 or beginning 2026. Double check first

Stuck in a time warp!!

What a strange place! Hotel room was poorly designed so not very comfortable. Reception staff very friendly and food good but room and decor left a lot to be desired!

2/10 Poor

Awful

AWFUL. The room (and hotel) are extremely dated so there was little comfort. Hotel was "managed" by a 25 year old and teenagers so needless to say service was terrible. To top it off the water smelled like sulfur so you get to take a rotten egg shower. I wouldn't give this review but for the price. At this expensive price point, the hotel and service are completely unacceptable. On a positive note, the view and food were good.

Solid hotel accommodations with personal service

We used this hotel as a convenient place to stay after a long day of sightseeing activities that would not be too far from the next day's activities. So we were not expecting greatness - only to be surprised by the personal quality of service in terms of politeness, flexibility, and willingness to help us. We were able to get upgrades, have the breakfast hour moved up by an entire hour, and get help with our bags. It is somewhat remote but the restaurant was very good and it appeared that many locals went there to eat. Rooms were clean but small. Bedrooms were in a loft where one had to climb up a narrow staircase to get to the bed. It was a bit inconvenient to have to negotiate one's way down to the bathroom on the first floor during the night but doable. There was ample parking and everything worked. I'd recommend the hotel.
