Absolutely delightful small hotel - we were there by 1130 and could leave the bags which was a great help - impeccably clean, spacious room with little fridge, kettle, drinks and a coffee machine. Beautiful bathroom and two great friendly and helpful guys on the desk. Obrigada to them :) we also used the roof terrace twice, once on the sun loungers early evening and once under the parasol :) the room was at ground floor and there was no noise. Definitely a place to stay again if we are in Faro. Location is great with everything within 5 mins walking and some good restaurants/ cafes close by ( San Pedro fusion and A Venda ( good veggie options here) and we had a fancy 3 course 22 euro Italian business lunch at Mavala. A change after 5 days of seafood at Olhao!! We also went to the city beach and an uber was less than six tho we had a 25 mins wait for one to the airport at around 815 so build in time maybe. Enjoy your stay as we really loved the place :)

Hidden Gem

Beautifully designed and recently renovated small hotel in the centre of the old town. Forget the usual resort hotels, Solar Mendonca is at a whole different level. Period charm outside, ultra high tech inside. The owner is passionate about the building and that shows in the high specification and clever design. We had an apartment which was very well equipped. Perfect temperature control and sound proofing in every room when you want it, roof terrace or balcony if you don't. Restaurants, shops and Sunday farmer's market are right outside. Nice cold Vinho Verde in the apartment was the perfect welcome. Thank you to Helder and his team for superb stay. Fabuloso!

We had a great stay at Solar Mendoça, it is a wonderful hotel with equally as wonderful staff. The location is perfect and easy access from the train station (about a 10 min walk on level streets) also it’s very close to old town. It’s right near an astounding cathedral and near chapel of bones. It’s near everything! The room is super clean, decorated beautifully and very comfortable. There is also a small fridge and small coffee/tea station where they have provided nice tea selections (since I’m the tea drinker), husband said coffee was good too. Philipe & Vitalii were so kind, friendly and helpful. They gave us tips for places and restaurants to try but of course go explore, there’s so many charming and fun places to see. Faro was a lovely visit and we look forward to returning. Make your reservations here, it’s a top notch hotel we highly recommend! Thank you.

TrĂšs bien situĂ©, tout Faro est accessible Ă  pieds, pour le reste il y a les bus ou les ferry juste Ă  cĂŽtĂ©. TrĂšs bon accueil (merci FIlipe), tout est propre. Le rooftop est sympa pour se poser ou mĂȘme pour manger. En revanche comme c'est en ville avec des rues pavĂ©es c'est un peu bruyant la nuit, de plus les occultant des fenĂȘtres ne sont pas suffisants, ça ne serait pas un souci s'il n'y avait pas l'Ă©clairage urbain. Pour ceux qui ont besoin du noir pour dormir, ne pas oublier votre masque de nuit. Et Ă  savoir les chambres en rez-de chaussĂ©e ont des vitres opaques + rideaux donc on ne profite de l'extĂ©rieur que sur le rooftop.
