Had a lovely stay. Room was very basic but it was absolutely perfect value for the price paid. Everything was spot on for relaxing after a days hiking. I would definately visit again.

6/10 Good

Good for a stop off and very reasonably priced, especially with continental breakfast. Room needs updating but then it would probably be more expensive, you get what you pay for. In a good location for exploring beautiful Snowdonia.

A warm welcome, clean and basic but ideal for a budget friendly stay if you’re walking in the area.

A community run Hotel. Interesting concept and clearly very important to the local community. Good continental breakfast in pleasant dining area. option for cooked breakfast (supplement) Friday and Saturday. Good range of evening meals (5 - 8 pm) Good quality and reasonably priced. Eat in the bar or the more formal dining area Room was very comfortable. Parking for 9/10 cars is plenty except if a number of non residents are present for meals or drinks. Bar well set up with good range and sensible prices

A very good choice if you want to recover before a hike. Very chill space with a comfortable parking in Snowdonia. With a breakfast included

The first room had a leak but there wasn't a problem moving us. The location is just stunning. Didn't stay for breakfast. But overall a pleasant stay.

Good single room in this inn for a traveller at reasonable rate. Great basic breakfast, pay a bit extra for cooked stuff. Lovely friendly staff. I loved the bar atmosphere, a hub for locals and for Welsh singing and music-making (at weekend, when I was there, at least.) Good Celtic kind of "craic".

Everything about this place was good. From the vibe, to the staff etc.

Clean and comfortable room. Good shower, lovely bedding. There was no remote for the tv so had to manually change channel, bedside lamp but no plug socket to use it. Breakfast was good, ample enough choice for continental.

I really enjoyed my one night stay at Y Pengwern. The bar was friendly when we checked in, and when I was shown my room was amazed at how big it was. I was backpacking and there was plenty of room to reorganise my kit, and the bed was large and very comfortable. After a long day's walk we were looking forward to food, and were very happy with the big hearty meals we had in the restaurant. Breakfast was continental (although you could pay to have a cooked breakfast) but the continental on offer was varied and there was lots of it. Would love to come back another time.

2/10 Poor

Coming from North America and long drive to this location, it wasn't an ideal place to relax. Of course it seems they were more of a pub then actual hotel you can sleep and relax. Very noisy outside. Wouldn't recommend for a family. Staff was excellent very cooperative to handlenthe situation.

Water bottle left in room when we arrived dead flys on window sill abit dusty in places… was asked what time we wanted breakfast so said 8 o’clock nobody turned up till 8:25 then told cooked breakfast wasn’t an option for weekdays which wasn’t specified…. But lovely views from our room

First room I had, had an issue with the door, staff immediately swapped my room! Staff were very kind and helpful, room had both a fan and electric heater which was perfect. Great food, nice pint selection. Excellent location.

Great stay!

Very nice place. The room had everything we needed for our weekend in Snowdonia. The location was great to access different hikes on the area. Great place for dog owners.

4/10 Fair

The room was clean and big enough and the staff were friendly. Everything else was terrible. The shower head won't stay in any other position but "at your face" or "at the floor". It's very poorly maintained and the bunk bed creaks terribly and wobbles so it doesn't feel safe. We plugged the heater in and the plug sparked when turning it off at the switch. The bedside light flickered at every slight movement on the table. The tV remote didn't work so we had to change channels on the tiny set which you could only see well from one side of the double bed. Kitchen closes early and the nearest food is 2.5 miles away. Breakfast was appreciated but no dairy free spread for toast or an alternative milk for tea or cereal. (I bring my own anyway). To add insult to injury accidently realised that booking it on the day would have been £50 cheaper. One of the worst B&Bs I've ever stayed in and I wouldn't go back.

wonderful stay

comfortable, clean, nice views around, amazing location, just down from the hotel there is a Snowdonia slate trail. Also the pub the hotel has delicious local beers which are great to enjoy after hiking all day long. The hotel has a long history dating back to 14th century
