Second time staying at this motel and it is always consistently clean and convenient. The complimentary basket of snacks and cold water is always appreciated.

This property was nice and clean and quiet. Our only complaint was the small amount of tv channels. The WiFi worked great though. We had a nice quiet time.

Stay was quiet and safe. In the morning, walked across the parking lot for breakfast. Snacks in the room were a nice, welcoming touch. Easy check in and out. Wish we could have stayed longer.

It was a cute little place to stay for the night after watching a high-school football game. They communicated well with us and we didn't have any issue. Rooms were clean.

Super nice staff, excellent housekeeping. This historical hotel is old but so comfortable with great tv, coffee, fridge , micro, toiletries etc.
This should be your definite “stay” place when in Capitan.

Quaint motel.
It is an older motel and quaint! It fit its name, Smokey Bear motel! The room and the beds were clean, had extra towels already in room, water in frig, snacks in a welcoming bowl, and a coffee pot! We were there for 2 nights for a family graduation!

We arrived a bit late so we both immediately took a shower. I was the first to shower and noticed hair shavings scattered all over the tile inside the shower. It was quite disgusting. To top it all off, the water pressure was terrible. Another disappointment was the television. I love to unwind with a little bit of TV but there was literally 5 available television stations to choose from. The only thing that made the stay worth anything was the restaurant. The food was great and the service was on point. I honestly think we would have been better off camping out or sleeping in the car. Seriously one of the worst experiences and we are frequent travelers so we have definitely had our share of Hotel/Motel stays.

This motel, while not the fanciest place in the world was perfect for what I wanted. I was looking for a quiet place to spend a few days away from people but still feel like home. The room was very cozy and almost felt like a well worn cabin. The diner in the parking lot served great food. It was peaceful and relaxing just like I wanted

Small town gem!
Had a wonderful experience at SmokeyBear Motel! This is an older property with a few rough edges, but it was clean as could be, the water was very hot with great pressure, and all the amenities (fridge, microwave, coffee maker) were in "like new"condition! Carpet appears new, and the bed was comfortable and had great pillows. There's a restaurant in the parking lot and others within an eady walk. And the Smokey Bear Historical Park is right next door!

Met Our Needs
As other reviewers have said, our room decor was cute and clean. The property itself seemed dated and in need of a handyman to repaint front doors and re-caulk the bathroom. Mattress was firm, maybe too firm for my back. Only one lock on the door, which was surprising in this day and age. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly, and the water bottles and snack basket left for us in the room were kind touches. Honestly, even though the Smokey Bear Hotel was 25 minutes north of Ruidoso, we chose to stay there to avoid steep taxes and fees in town.

Parking very easy. Security was probably not available as staff were not on site.
