We had some trouble checking in, and called the guesthouse four times. On the fifth time they picked up the phone, and asked me what my problem was and what I did not understand. He nearly shouted at me that the information was sent by mail, but I did never receive any. He then sent it again and check in worked. The place it self was clean and modern, with towels, AC and a comfortable bed. There was just one room card, which made it a bit harder to do separate things. There was also bad water pressure in the shower. The stay was comfortable for one night before the cruise, and the location was close (600m walking) to the entrance of the cruise port.

We needed to call the number when we got there. We were unaware that they send you 3 different codes the day of arrival to your email so you definitely need wifi. No elevator so I suggest you pack light. On the first view of the room, it looked clean, however, the side table was very dusty. There was no soap for shampoo...easy fix, we bought shampoo. Now the good: very centrally located. Food in the area is excellent. The market is right there. It is a short distance to the bus that takes you to the cruise lines. Bathroom was clean. Towels were clean. Again, location was wonderful. If you are looking for high end, elevator, etc...this is not for you. If you are looking for easy walking for everything, I would recommend it. Btw, the a/c is very good. All in all, a good stay.

I do not recommend! There is no way to access the property until 3pm, no place to stow luggage if you are getting off a cruise ship in the morning. No staff at all ever at the property, just an email with access instructions that is sent just before 3pm.

It is important to note that this is not a hotel. It is a guest house, where the owners/proprietors are off site. Everything relies on a series of codes to gain access to the building, therefore it is extremely important to follow all instructions right to the letter in order to gain access to the accommodation. I did everything except follow up the day before (we were in Rome), so we ended up relying on another couple to help us get into the building. That all being said, once you do get in, it is a nice place to spend the night before your cruise. You have your own room, own bathroom and balcony, and a shared kitchen with some amenities. Civitavecchia has a few hotels, but they are expensive and these guest houses are more common and economical. I would do it again, now that I have the experience and know what to do.
