Motel from Hell

Literally the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. It should be shut down. Leaves blew in through the gap in the door, rust, dirt and dust were everywhere, the microwave didn’t work, and the carpet was uber filthy!!!

The price pulled us in, the fear sent us running

It was highly rated on Hotels.com so we figured why not? When we pulled in, it appeared the lobby was under renovation. My thought was, "Okay, fine. Maybe that's why the price was low." After checking in and receiving instruction on how to find our room on the back side second floor, we pulled around the dimly lit parking lot to park. As we are grabbing our bags from the trunk, a vehicle is slowly gliding through with a sketchy young fellow peering at us with an uneasy stare. We are making our way to the stairs and start to notice many of the rooms have torn curtains, furniture pulled away from the walls to the center of the rooms, and a window or two missing. The outdoor, airy staircase was falling apart and carried the pungent odor of cat urine. At the top of the staircase, we see a man walking toward us with a headlamp. We open the door to our room and immediately are hit with the smell of cigarette smoke in a non-smoking room. The door closes behind us as we are questioning whether to even set down bags, and the man with headlamp then looks directly in our window to make eye contact. We looked at each other, said "Nope" and decended down the crumbling staircase to once again see the young man in the dark parking lot observe us toss bags and book it out of there. The desk staff was kind enough and asked if there was anything that would convince us to stay. Unfortunately, there was not a damn thing that would have made me say yes to his offer.
