Daniele was a gracious host, providing a wonderful stay from start to finish, and is a very interesting person to talk to. The B&B itself is right in the heart of Matera, offering breathtaking views of the ancient city right outside its door and near to the main pedestrian street. Our room was comfortable, with a balcony providing photo-worthy views and a bathroom designed with attention to detail – complete with heated towel rack, good amount of counter space, and nice lighting. We were given a choice of a savoury or sweet breakfast, and opted for the typically Italian choice of sweet – a freshly made croissant from a local bakery, served alongside a selection of biscuits, all delicious.
The hotel does not offer parking on-site. If you are driving to Matera, be warned that there are sections of town only permitted vehicles are allowed to enter; these are monitored by cameras, so you will get a ticket. It can prove very tricky to find a parking spot near the hotel, as traffic is extremely heavy and spots limited near the pedestrian-only area of town. Once you find a spot, I’d suggest leaving the car for the duration of your stay and walking if you are able.
