Stop, Go To The Osthoff
We chose to celebrate our 30th birthday here, and I wanted to love this place but the experience just wasn't great.
Check-in was at 4p. I called in the morning to see if we could request an early check-in, they declined, and said I could only make the request once I got there. We arrived about 2:30p, asked again, they said that our villa would be ready in 30 minutes and that I would receive a text. The worker confirmed my number by reading it to me. By 4:45p, I still hadn't received anything and had called the desk twice. They said they were just behind. Our dinner reservation was at 6p, and nobody was ready at this point, so we were getting nervous. I called again, and the worker, Janet, said that they never had my phone number because of hotels.com; which isn't correct because the previous worker read my information to me at check-in.
Everything was spread out and scattered. Workers looked panicked but were handing out champagne to keep people calm. The resort is also super spread out for it being freezing outside.
I much prefer the Osthoff Resort a bit north and would recommend that any day over this. The customer service from the front desk was rude and blamed me for their problems, the layout of the villa was backwards with rooms downstairs and the kitchen/living room upstairs, the TV was basic cable vs. smart TV options. I could go on. I would expect way better than all of the above issues for $1,100+ a night that was paid.
