What is disappointing experience, hotels.com and mama shelter really dropped the ball. We were forced to stay in a room that smelled like sewage as the hotel cannot do anything since it was booked through a third-party, as a member I’m very disappointed, and are staying in Lisbon. This hotel is overrated, for example accommodations customer service we have experienced in Europe at other places, considering taking my business elsewhere from Hotels.com as well as they were unable to this plate as being in an unsanitary situation.

Our stay at Mama Shelter Lisboa was largely positive. They warmly welcomed our French Bulldog, Finley, providing food and water bowls in the room. The hotel's central location is excellent, just 3 minutes from Rato metro station. The rooftop area is a highlight, offering a cool, authentic atmosphere. We enjoyed the ground floor foosball table, though the rooftop one lacked a ball. Staff were friendly and professional, even helping with a pre-arrival jacket order. The on-site restaurant has a great vibe. While the lobby gets noisy at night, rooms are well-insulated. Areas for improvement: 1. Air conditioning in room 401 was extremely loud for the first 10-15 minutes. This was reported but not addressed. 2. With only two elevators, wait times were often long. 3. The missing foosball ball on the rooftop wasn't replaced despite our request. Despite these minor issues, Mama Shelter Lisboa shows great potential. If they address these points, they could easily become a 10/10 establishment. The location is fantastic, and we appreciated the pet-friendly approach. The staff's kindness and the overall atmosphere were definite plusses. While the elevator situation and the unresolved AC noise were disappointing, they didn't significantly detract from our stay. We're rating our experience 8/10, seeing room for improvement but still highly recommending the hotel, especially for pet owners. We hope this constructive feedback helps Mama Shelter Lisboa reach its full potential.

The hotel is in a great location due to its proximity to the metro and local bus links. The staff were very helpful, and the cleanliness of the room was great. The breakfast was good but some more vegan options would have been welcome. Overall, my partner and I had a really enjoyable stay and we would stay here again.

We booked Mama Shelter because we loved the interior photos and the rooftop terrance, however, the room was basic, we didn’t have a kettle for tea and coffee and there was no complimentary water in the room, which seemed odd as there was a fridge. It very much feels like a “party hotel”, which isn’t really us, there are dj’s on the rooftop and hotel restaurant for guests and non-guests, and they are not considerate when leaving the hotel after dark. The windows in our room were not sealed properly and the drunk non-guests leaving combined with the street noise meant we did not have any full nights sleep at all, we were always awoken. The breakfast was good though, and we did enjoy the roof terrace when it was quiet during the day.

Location is very good. Staff were very friendly and the hotel has a good atmosphere in the evenings (restaurant / bar). We often had to wait 5-10 minutes for our lift to arrive from the 6th floor as they often were out of service. It would have been great to have been able to use the staircase, but this was locked. We were also accidentally locked out on the balcony after closing hours. The room was cleaned daily and was always “fresh”. Bring your own amenities to wash with, as they only provide a small bar of soup that also can be used to wash your hair.
